  • Rydges Lakeland Resort Hotel Queenstown

Taking out the prize for the grand daddy of Queenstown hotels, Rydges has been through a lot. Split into two halves the older section is over forty years old and is starting to show its age. While some places age like fine wine this hotel tastes like mayo that's been left out in the sun for too long. The elevators rumble and shake, the rooms are getting tatty and the bathrooms aren't much to write home about. The newer rooms are passable and the ones that have lake views at least have that going for them. Don't fall into the trap of the cheaper 'backpacker' style rooms - these rooms have uninspiring views of the abandoned lot behind the hotel and are older than most of the guests - combined. To top it off the staff we met were a friendly but apathetic bunch who have about as much admiration for this hotel as I do.

I had a business leisure time trip in a beautiful place called queens town, and for that time to spent, I selected queens town's five stared hotel rydges. The way hotel's crew welcomes is really grateful. I was with my company's staff,so we all had very good time out there. To talk about amenities it was fabulous because whenever we want or need something,We just give them a message and they arrange that thing in very short time . At last, this hotel made my journey a memorable journey by given us a good customer care services. Thanks.

While Rydges is in a lovely location just a short walk along the lakefront into town, and it’s lake-side location offers great views, that’s about the best thing this big, older hotel has going for it. That and the cheap deals they offer in desperation to fill the vast number of rooms available. It’s obviously ideal for conference groups, given it’s size and what seemed to be an entire floor of meeting rooms. The rooms themselves are reasonably spacious but they’ve still got 70s-esque décor that’s crying been out for a refit in quite some time. If you’re desperate for a drink the Inigo bar isn’t half bad – it has had a refit – but I’d definitely be spending my time anywhere other than here for most of my stay in Queenstown. The cheaper backpacker rooms should be avoided at all costs. In short, it’s far from a “resort” & you can do better than this place.

Excellent hotel and not overly priced either. I stayed there in February 2012 for 2 nights and had very good service, and considering I was on crutches, the staff looked after me well.
