A must visit when in Ubud, or anywhere in Bali for that matter. It’s great fun watching silly tourists try to take photos with monkeys and ending up with the monkey jumping on their head and stealing stuff from their bags.
The evil monkeys are supper cute from tiny little babies to big males sleeping on the temple stone work. Just remember they are wild animals not peoples pets, so try not to annoy them or they might bite.
I would have given it a 5 star but it is always quite crowded. Perhaps visiting at 8 in the morning when it opens is a better option but I have never made it that early.

A great place for photos! Also a wonderful place for interaction with monkeys while they do their thing or grooming each other. Be sure to purchase some bananas to feed the monkeys, they will appreciate it. Just a word of caution lol, do not hold the banana in the air expecting that they will jump for it. You will get the unexpected surprise when a monkey will decide to climb your body instead to get the delicious banana! The worst case scenario is that you may get your finger(s) bit by accident from their sharp teeth. In order to NOT be that person, remember to bend down and give the banana to the monkey. While doing this you will get the bet opportunity for amazing close-up photos and video for your trip!

I went wanting to see monkeys, and left thrilled to have seen rainforest-clad temples, deep river trenches, and one of the finest stone sculpture menageries I've ever seen. This place is magic. I had heard a lot of things about naughty monkeys here, and none of them seemed to be true. In fact, I wanted to see a little more naughtiness. What I got was a lot of cute macaques, a handful of which it seemed prudent to steer clear of. The giant banyan trees were brilliant, the forest regal, and my time well spent.

A fascinating temple sanctuary for macaques, with beautiful surroundings. One major caveat- be careful-- I was bitten by an overexcited monkey who was being fed bananas by a tourist, who then jumped from him and ran to me. Do not feed the monkeys, regardless of locals trying to sell you bananas for that purpose! Be very careful of getting too close to the monkeys, who can be very aggressive, and stay away from idiot tourists who feed or try and play with them- staffers are few and far between and likely won't be on hand to help if anything happens.

Monkey Forest was pretty laid back - not many people bugging you to buy anything, although that may have changed since I've been there. Yes, every city seems to have it's own Monkey Temple, but the Balinese sculptures made it extra special.

The monkeys might be pure, banana-seeking evil (insurance attached to your ticket covers accidental death and dismemberment whilst in the Sacred Monkey Forest!) but darned if they aren't cute, and the small sylvan patch they occupy towards the south end of Ubud's main drag is nothing if not beautiful. Featuring temples overgrown with lush green, and enormous banyan trees sweeping over streams and waterfalls, it's a magical little place and great for photographs, even if it's also likely to be packed.

Vast forest area which gives the traveler a chance to commune with the trees and interact with playful monkeys. Bring a good camera as there are plenty of postcard-worthy images to take home. Don't wear jewelry or sunglasses as monkeys tend to be mischievous and snatch them off of you!

Monkey Forest, Jl Monkey Forest, Ubud, ☎ +62 361 971304 (email@example.com), . A sacred forest full of ravenous monkeys, so don't bring any food or you will risk bites and a need for rabies injections. If you are bitten, visit the first aid clinic near the entrance at the bottom of Jalan Monkey Forest. Stroll through to find Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal, a temple of the dead. A visit to the very informative website beforehand is highly recommended. Entrance 20,000 Rp for adults.
