I would rank Sagres one of my favorite places on earth. Not that the town is special by any means, but there are at least 5 gorgeous beaches surrounding it--some good for surfing, lounging, swimming, wind surfing. Also nearby are the cliffs and lighthouse of Cape St Vincent.

Sagres is popular for a reason - it's spectacular coastline and year round sunshine. The beaches are beautiful and there's a host of scenes to choose from and even some where privacy is not at a premium - good for the first time topless set . And if you're an exhibitionist, well there's a beach for that too, isn't there?

Sagres is a truly tranquil town with beautiful beaches, a picturesque harbour at Baleeira, a very pretty square, Praça da República, and stunning views. It is very popular in summer with visitors, but all year round with fishermen and surfers because of the western Atlantic waters creating such good waves for surfing.
