This industrial pasta factory from 1905 has been converted into an exhibition space and restaurant, not to mention happening aperitivo bar. Contemporary art shows here can include anything from video installations to photography, the top-notch restaurant serves up Roman classics with a modern twist, and the bar, open until 2am, is known for having one of the best aperitivi in ...

Amazing, funky venue for music, live and DJed. The name in Italian literally means the meeting of the condominium and it does feel like that local hangout with comfy couches and chairs, bookshelves and personal touches. The stage is small and intimate making it feel like you are in someone's living room. Great place for a night out with friends ...

Visit Santa Maria Maggiore (St. Mary Major) if only to see Bernini's magnificant staircase! There are 80 churches in Rome dedicated to Mary. This is the largest and considered the most important, thus, the label "maggiore". Along with St. Peter's, St. John's and St. Paul's, this is one of four papal basilicas in Rome. Dating back to the 5th century, ...

One of Rome's four papal basilicas, San Giovanni sports one of the thirteen stolen obelisks as well as hosts Rome's primo Maggio concert, a big pop concert in honor of Labor Day. Oh, and it's a gorgeous church.

Well worth your time. Excellent museum, not as food as the Louvre but still excellent. You see so much art representing history and myths that surround you in visiting Rome. Take at east 1-2 hrs. Area can have gypsies and pick pockets. Use a money belt and don't loiter outside- get on your way to next place.

The only place in Rome to get some decent Indian food, Piazza Vittorio is also the Eternal City's Chinatown, as well as the site of cheap department store Mas, an essential stop for discounted cheap clothes appropriate for rehearsals, painting, or pyjamas. Run by an American expat, these are tours of some spectacular castles and estates and their gardens. Small, boutique style---just you, your friend(s) and the guide. The design and history of these places-my favorite is a royal estate where gigantic busts surround the garden and each represents a member of the house staff-is incredible, but best of all, they are ...

The church in its current form was commissioned by Pope Hadrian I around the year 780, and built on top of the remains of a 5th-century structure and was designed to house the bones of Saint Praxedes and Saint Pudentiana. The two female saints were murdered for providing Christian burial for early martyrs in defiance of Roman law. The basilica ...

Great Irish pub in Rome (I know, right?). Small but homey and friendly. Good drinks, great live music on the weekends and Tony's a hoot behind the bar. Staff is multilingual (English, Italian, German, etc.) so come for a true international experience.
