The location was perfect. We booked a romantic getaway package and what an exceptional stay! We have never been treated nicer anywhere and the place was amazing. The two story suite overlooked the internal garden area with 20 foot windows that opened. Perfect for anniversaries, honeymoons, proposals. Although pricey, the dinner and room service were exceptional, we had coffee and pastries in the room each morning then walked straight out into the Jardins across the street. Wonderful stay.

After a brutal 8 hour flight (screaming babies - enough said) we arrived at our hotel fully intending to decompress and enjoy the pool/hammam to recover. We paid a GREAT DEAL more money to stay at a hotel with a pool and hammam and what we got was a pool/hammam under construction which they failed to advise us of prior to arrival. After many excuses they simply told us the best they could do was allow us the use of the pool at a hotel 15 minutes away if we were willing to walk. The idea of trekking to a different location in the cold and rain did not appeal to us at all so we hoped that the construction would wrap up and that we could enjoy the extra features at some point during our stay. The pool did open a couple of days later but here's what you get: a pool with such poor lighting that it's almost creepy being down there alone. The hours were from 4 pm - 8 pm - precisely the time that most tourists need to dress and get ready for their dining activities. As for the "Hammam", it is a steam sauna. That's it. There are no varied rooms with different heat intensities, showers, etc. They offer massages but we opted to save our money since the prices were exorbitant. No efforts were made to reimburse us for the massive inconvenience we endured other than an upgraded room which, by the size of it, made us question just how tiny the other room would have been! There were minor hitches throughout the stay but the point is this: when staying in Paris, avoid all of the hotels on Rivoli. Yes, they are centrally located but you do not get bigger rooms or better service for the price. Chatelais is the night-life district or even staying farther out near Montmartre would have been better. As a first time experience in France, I was sorely disappointed. FYI the hotel cost us $2300 for 1 week. OUCH.
