We looked at this church as part of a Gothic cathedrals of Paris walking tour given by Context Travel. It is a intriguing example of Late Gothic Architecture. The exterior has a flamboyant style rose window. In the interior, the deambulatory includes an unusual pillar in the form of the trunks of a palm tree.

This place is definitely worth seeing when in Paris. I absolutely loved the stained glass windows throughout and the ceilings.

Description

Saint Severin, Paris is a church that is a spectacular site, both in architecture and age. The church is named after a pious hermit who often prayed at this location. Upon entering the church, you will be greeted with by the grandiose organ and stained glass windows dating back to the 1400s, both tower high above the pews. A commanding column in the center of the sanctuary is joined by a chorus of ... read more
columns consisting of interesting coils that branch out at the top and weave into each other like treetops. The elements that make up the church are as dominating as the church itself, which has influenced a large portion of the city.
