This one is a little overrated. We all know it's pricey and that they have some eccentric items. At Christmas time I like to look at the window displays. That's the most unique and interesting thing about it.

A great place to experience great architecture while shopping in a classic department store at its original location on Fifth Avenue next to St.Patrick's Cathedral. You might want to go pray before or after spending at Saks. Excellent men's department with top notch tailors . Make it a visit just after lunch around 2P for best service. Less crowded.

A little less manageable (i.e. larger) and less edgy than Barney's. Probably the best traditional department store in the city though women and older conservative men may prefer Bergdorf.
