Pretty good hostel on the whole. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The common room was a great place to meet people. Mostly played video games or check out things on the computers. Good location also.

Clean amenities and a great common area. There's not much more you can ask for in hostel. The environment is a little sterile and the variety of guests can vary quite a bit. But it's a really cool part of town near the Asakusa Temple. Make sure to walk down the little bar street at night for some interesting food.

The Sakura Hostel is Asakusa is located behind the giant tourist magnet that is Sakura Shrine. The location is a little hard to find and once again to access it you have to walk from the station through a giant tourist trap. Now certainly Asakusa Shrine and the area around it is worth checking out, but this can be especially vexing if you’re hauling luggage through such a crowded area. Most of the other hotels and hostels in the area don’t have this problem as they can be accessed from the station without having to walk through the shrine.
The second problem with this hostel is that it always sees a lot of traffic and just does not have enough staff to properly support all the guests. Management needs to spend less money on advertising and more money to hire staff that can actually answer questions about the area.
While they do have a few good features such as computers in the lounge, cheap meals, and enough visitors that networking is easier there are plenty of other hostels in the area that are cheaper with far more attentive staff.Recommended for:

no frills. it was a bit old back when i was here in 05. Definitely, not what you would find in kyoto. There are young and old travelers, so it's still a good place to meet people in the common area and see if you want to wander tokyo together.
