I had one of the best ice cream flavors here the last time I visited. It was one of their seasonal specials - Tillamook cheddar cheese and apple, something like that. It was a super combination of savory (cheese) and sweet (apple) and it rocked my world. Lines are usually long at Salt & Straw, but SO worth the wait because it moves fast also. It's pretty much the equivalent to Seattle's Molly Moon's ice creamery.Recommended for:

Believe the hype! This ice cream is really special. There will likely be a line, but it moves quickly. Be ballsy and try one of their more unique flavors, like pear blue cheese!Recommended for:

Do yourself a favor and ask the servers what you should try next - they will come up with pairings just like a sommelier. I always end up with the Sea Salt & Ganache though, can't beat it.Recommended for:

I rarely get this excited about an ice cream place, though I do love the stuff. But Salt & Straw is in a class of its own. Where else can you get sea urchin meringue ice cream? The staff was excited about the flavors too. I loved the cinnamon snickerdoodle and pear & blue cheese. The olive oil flavor was surprisingly awesome. Worth the line!Recommended for:

All natural, locally sourced ice cream made in small batches. They have unique flavors like salt and caramel ribbons, honey lavender, pear and blue cheese and honey balsamic strawberry with cracked pepper.Recommended for:

You haven't had ice cream until you've had it Salt & Straw style. This place is like a mad scientists workshop with flavors like goat cheese marionberry habanero, honey balsamic strawberry with cracked pepper, and almond brittle with salted ganache.Recommended for:

If you are fond of sweets and ice cream, you must check out Salt and Straw. They have an amazing selection of uniquely flavored ice creams. I was able to try their Pear with Blue Cheese ice cream and the Meyer's Lemon Chocolate Sorbet. I have never tasted anything like these two flavors.Recommended for:

Salt & Straw has developed a cult following in Portland, despite only having been open for a few years, and on most days you have to wait in line for a cone of their delicious ice creams. They are known for their odd flavors of ice cream (think pear with blue cheese and honey balsamic strawberry with cracked pepper). Salt & Straw use local, organic ingredients whenever possible.Recommended for:

Salt & Straw serves delicious ice cream in various sorts of flavors. Beware of coming here when the skies are blue and the sun is out; you might have to wait in line. However, even if that happens, their ice cream is still worth the wait.Recommended for:

Your entire concept of what can be a good flavor of ice cream will get challenged here. There are flavors like lavender and honey, pear and blue cheese and mint chocolate chip with candied lemon.
This is the most unique ice cream place I have tried and really enjoyed the unique flavors.
