    Café Bazar

    4.5
    5 reviews

Food is a 3 (good, but you can find better in salzburg) but location is a 5 - Cafe Bazar has tables right on the river, with views of the old city and the fortress above. It's crowded on sunny days, so book in advance and guarantee a great table.

This is a nice cozy restaurant with very good traditional Austrian food. It is located in the middle of the Old Town on a Square near Mozartplatz. Downstairs is kind of a Bistro and upstairs is the restaurant. Try to get a reservation for a table overlooking the square.

I actually planned on going to an Austrian pub, but I accidentally walked into the wrong restaurant (the pub was two doors down). It turned out to be a great mistake. Maier's served excellent food. It's Michelin-starred and is a little walk away from the Old Town. I had the aubergine soup and octopus salad. The aubergine soup tasted so ...

    Bärenwirt OG

Barenwirt is an excellent restaurant (and introduction) to Austrian cuisine. I had the most decadent schnitzel ever. Schnitzel is a classic dish in this region, but Barenwirt tops it by adding pork meat, cheese, ham, mushrooms, and loads it up with fried batter. It tasted amazing! In addition, the smoked pork and dumplings taste delish. Barenwirt is not for the ...

It is a little secret. A small restaurant with great views over the old town The best way to get there is either via Mönchsbergaufzug and a short walk or a pretty walk from the old town up there. It is a very small restaurant with serves good austrian food but the service can sometimes be very slow.

    Magazin

Salzburg is renown for its history and old European fairy tale grandeur, but it's nice to explore and check out a more contemporary aspect of the city. Magazin is an example. It's a modern bar and restaurant that is nestled and carved against Monschberg giving it a bat cave type feel. I recommend coming at night to really soak in ...

    Cafe Habakuk

Cafe Habakuk is a popular bakery in Salzburg. I personally recommend their apple strudel. It's light and is sweet but not overtly so. The cinnamon also adds a nice touch.
