Very close to the BigWave Penthouse in the Keauhou Shopping Center (NOT 3.9 miles as noted above - the map is incorrect) You'll pass it every time you hit the road to go North or South. Good food, fast service and a killer 180 degree view add to it's charm.

Sam Choy's Kai Lani mixes the great Asian cuisine made famous by Sam Choy's other restaurants with a great view of Kailua-Kona. Situated up on a hill in the Keauhou Shopping Center, the restaurant and bar area offer a panoramic view of the coast below. Sports play on television by a full bar that serves up signature Hawaiian cocktails and a surprisingly sparse selection of beer on tap (surprising because Sam Choy's in Honolulu also brews its own beer; none of it was on tap here).
Food was tasty and the portions were huge. I was thoroughly stuffed after eating. I had the burger plate, which was tasty but not as good as the one I tried at Merriman's. The pot roast was tasty as well. The most unique item was the sweet potato salad.
Not a bad restaurant if you're in the Kailua-Kona area. There are few that could top this in the near vicinity, I suspect.
