THIS IS A MAGICAL PLACE! After an awe-inspiring walking journey, we returned to catch the next trolley. This time, we headed for Coronado. More class and elegance and incredible views. It was especially relaxing to enjoy a waffle cone on the ocean-view deck at the Hotel del Coronado. Talk about class! Naturally, we took off our shoes and walked the ...

The Marriott Marina is one of the more beautiful Marriotts in the family - right along the San Diego bay and near Seaport Village, you are only steps away from all the downtown and oceanfront action. The Convention Center is next door, the marina leads you straight into Seaport Village, or you can cross the street into the Gaslamp Quarter. ...

To my surprise, they have done A LOT OF RENOS that makes me happy. New dark wood laminate floors, with bedroom set to match. (No more wicker chair x rickety old drawers painted over x bed linens from grandmas house, old gross wood floor). 38"(?) LCD flatscreen tv, with plugs for your dvd player (we bring our own). This location of this hotel is unbeatable. It is in Downtown and attached to Seaport Village. If you are traveling with a family you should know that it is not a big resort hotel in fact it caters to a largely business and convention crowd. The rooms are large but are not as modern as some other Hyatt's The Sunday ...

Despite looking on the outside like a big, mediocre, 1970’s built hotel, the inside has been smartly updated and made very enticing. The lobby is big, spacious and has a hip looking business center in the middle of it. The rooms are also updated and are clean and sharp looking. But my favorite part is the big ass pool. It ...

This place is absolutely luxurious! I felt like a goddamn princess here. When you first drive in, the hotel is absolutely striking; it feels like you’re pulling up to someone’s private villa in the Mediterranean. This feeling sticks with you when you get inside. The only reason I'm giving this hotel 4 stars instead of 5 is because of their location. They're right across the street from UCSD which makes it kinda inconvenient if you want to walk anyplace - except that you can walk in the neighborhood, which is super nice. However, sometimes it's cool to stay in a place that feels like ...

Luxury Hotels in San Diego

Renown for it’s beautiful beaches, hilly geography, and mild year-round weather, San Diego attracts tourists for many reasons. Attractions like Balboa Park, Belmont Amusement Park and the world famous SeaWorld are amongst a handful of places to visit while you’re there. Being on the southern end of the west coast, the beaches are perfect for lounging or a surf lesson. The weather makes it an ideal city for a destination wedding or for golf enthusiasts to improve their game. No matter what time of year, San Diego is the perfect destination to get away to.

Finding a suitable and upscale hotel within close proximity to some of the major park attractions is easy. With it’s garden room, stained glass windows and penthouse suites, Britt Scripps Inn is the very definition of luxury. And just like Balboa Park Inn, it’s minutes from the San Diego Zoo. At each, you’ll enjoy amenities like a mini bar, WI-FI, jacuzzi tubs and a gourmet continental breakfast. W San Diego Hotel has a gorgeous rooftop beach bar, known as The Rooftop Bar, and is the perfect place to spend your happy hour. Rich in history and sitting on West Broadway, The US Grant features many of the same upper class options and resides just outside of the lively Gaslamp Quarter, an area famous for their street festivals and Mardi Gras celebration.

North of downtown San Diego, La Jolla Shores is a beautiful, family friendly beach and surfer’s paradise in La Jolla. Beautiful condominiums and houses overlook the Pacific Ocean and are accompanied by extravagant accommodations like The Pantai Inn, the newest oceanfront hotel in La Jolla. Still very upscale and right in the middle of the village is the award winning La Valencia. It includes a restaurant, bar, pool and spa for those who aren’t a fan of the sand. North of La Jolla sits Rancho Santa Fe. Gorgeously constructed homes sit on mesas with fabulous views of the ocean, valleys and mountains. It harbors a few elite and upper class hotels including the award winning Inn at Rancho Santa Fe.

Downtown San Diego is no stranger to fine dining. Gaslamp Quarter is heavily populated with 5 star restaurants from the sophisticated and scrumptious Blue Point to Lou & Mickey's Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge. And for free wine and little to no cab fare, stay at the Hotel Solamar, featuring spectacular service, a rooftop bar and a sleek pool terrace.

Along the coast in Mission Bay, a little bit further north of Sail and Fiesta Bay, there is a range of upscale establishments serving everything from Italian cuisine to Japanese fare. Caffe Bella Italia has a delectable menu, wood fired oven and amazing service with a cozy atmosphere. Haiku is noted for their exquisite sushi and Hibachi. Nearby are a number of quality oceanfront hotels like the luxurious Ocean Park Inn.

In between West Harbor Drive and West Broadway, there are a number of places to shop. This includes stores like Nordstrom and BCBG, along with many fine jewelry stores and boutiques. Westfield Horton Plaza is a large public square that harbors many of these specialty shops and features dining options as well. A little bit south of this is Manchester Grand Hyatt, with a beautiful waterfront view just over Embarcadero Marina. With a full spa, event center, cabana rentals, fitness facilities and tennis courts, the Hyatt succeeds in providing a versatile experience for any traveler.
