San Diego

575 reviews

Laid back vibes but things to do for all types. Be fast paced in the city, enjoying the Gaslamp and nightlife or head east for much more relaxed neighborhoods and lifestyles. Great place for the outdoors and eating many cuisines.

    Coronado

    California, USA
    73 reviews

Coronado is one of my favorite areas when in San Diego. So beautiful and charming neighborhood. From bay front to oceanfront, lot of culture, restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, shops. My advise is renting a bike by the pier to ride around the area. Must see the Navy Base, the Ferryboat Pier, Coronado's Bridge and Coronado's portrait, the beautiful Hotel del ...

    National City

    California, USA
    2 reviews

National City has a bad rep, but some of my favorite places are here! This place is home to some of the best ethnic groceries and restaurants in San Diego. In fact, when I fly back to San Diego, I insist on stopping at a couple of restaurants in National City straight from the airport (Tacos El Gordo and Manila ...

    La Jolla

    87 reviews

The beaches can be walked to from the UCSD campus. The waves also tend to be relatively forgiving, as is the fact that the amount of coral in some areas is minimal.

    Tijuana

    Mexico
    69 reviews

When I visited Tijuana, it was a number of years ago and it was great. I might wait until things settle down a bit before visiting again, but there are a number of fun day tours to Tijuana from San Diego if you don't want to drive down yourself. Arts and crafts, bars, and fishing expeditions to Ensenada seem to ...

    La Mesa

    California, USA
    8 reviews

Although not sharing the same city name, La Mesa is relatively close to San Diego. However, this city is more inland and it can get hotter in the summers and colder in the winters. Also known as a town of the suburbs, it's a great place for kids to grow up.

    Bonita

    California, USA
    2 reviews

Nice, quiet area with a lot of food options. The most popular attraction (in my opinion) is the golf course and track that goes around it. It is maintained and there are always plenty of walkers and joggers to motivate you. Not too crowded and plenty of shade available.

    Lakeside

This is not really my type of town, too remote, mostly residential, etc BUT I do visit this area on my way to Barona Casino or hiking in Poway. I also like that El Capitan High School has a 4H program which my cousins LOVE.

    Jamul

    California, USA
    2 reviews

The only reason I know about this city is because I went to a high school in El Cajon that had many students from there. There is no high school in Jamul. The houses are far apart from each other and it's like the boonies. However, it's a peaceful town, with hilly roads and a great place to raise kids.

    Carlsbad

    California, USA
    41 reviews

Carlsbad is a beautiful suburb of San Diego. You can beat the beaches and the crowds. Yes, it gets a bit busy during summer but nothing like closer to the city. Make sure to check out the Village if you like small little towns with local shops and local dining options. Carlsbad is becoming the best place in North County ...
