    Hotel des Arts

    Hotel des Arts

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    6 reviews

It's quite an interesting hotel. Every room was painted by a different artist. We got a pretty "dark" kind of room. We only stayed for a night and for that it was great. The only problem is that it doesn't have ac and it got pretty warm. The location of the hotel is great, right by Chinatown.

    The Herbert Hotel

    The Herbert Hotel

    Hotel Class:
    4
    4 reviews

The pictures that The Herbert posts online are a bit deceiving. We arrived and we upgraded to a King room on the fly so that we would have our own bathroom in our room; otherwise, you have to walk out to the hallway to use restrooms and showers. Granted, the hotel is CHEAP for San Francisco and it's close to ...

    Union Square Plaza Hotel

    Union Square Plaza Hotel

    Hotel Class:
    3
    6 reviews

The best thing about the Union Square Plaza Hotel is its location. It sits right across the street from the A.C.T. and the Curran Theatre (the “official home of Broadway in San Francisco”). There are a number of really great restaurants surrounding it, and Union Square and the big mall—the Westfield San Francisco Centre—are a few minutes away. In other ...

    The Wharf Inn

    The Wharf Inn

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    2 reviews

The Wharf Inn has a great location and offers free parking. Wi-Fi is complimentary and there's coffee in the lobby, so that about pretty much satisfies all of life's basic needs. The only thing you need left is a bar. Luckily, there are plenty of places to eat and dine nearby. The water is just a block or so away. ...

    Grant Plaza Hotel

    Grant Plaza Hotel

    Hotel Class:
    3.5
    4 reviews

The Grant Plaza doesn’t have many amenities, but it’s in a great location amid the bustle of Chinatown and close to Union Square and the cable cars. They have a welcoming lobby space with comfy couches that are a quiet spot to watch the action, and there are also little common sitting areas in the upper areas of the hotel. ...

    Days Inn Lombard Street

    Days Inn Lombard Street

    Hotel Class:
    4
    2 reviews

The Days Inn on Lombard Street is perhaps one of the nicer motels in the area. While it's not much to look at from the street, the inside area is quiet, peaceful and well-maintained. Rooms are very nice, and parking and Wi-Fi are included. I was quite impressed with the size and decor of the rooms, particularly the warm furnishings ...

    Surf Motel

    Surf Motel

    Hotel Class:
    3.5
    2 reviews

Surf Motel is a surprisingly nice motel with very nice rooms and suites. Parking is included and Wi-Fi is free. The vibrant blue of all the doors really made the place pop, and the sound of the palm trees in the wind almost sounded like waves on the beach. I suppose that's just my mind reacting to the name of ...

    Baldwin Hotel

    Baldwin Hotel

    Hotel Class:
    3.5
    2 reviews

Located in Downtown San Francisco and just outside of Chinatown, the Baldwin Hotel has a great location for exploring the heart of urban SF. You can step outside and throw a stone at a restaurant (that is how close you are to them; I do not actually advise doing this). I also got the sense that they are well-equipped to ...

    Alexis Park

    Alexis Park

    Hotel Class:
    3
    3 reviews

I was completely surprised by the rooms at Alexis Park motel, located in the Tenderloin/Civic Center area of San Francisco. The location alone suggests that it's not the ideal neighborhood you want to be in when visiting, but for travelers who don't want to go the hostel route, Alexis Park is a budget-friendly no-frills motel that's close to the Polk ...

    Motel 6

    Motel 6

    Hotel Class:
    2.5
    3 reviews

Motel 6 is definitely an inexpensive place to stay, but then you have to put up with everything that comes with it. Saw lots of ghetto people on the halls, people doing drugs right outside the elevators and when i had a problem with my room (it flooded) the staff just told me to find some place else to stay ...

    Alpha Inn & Suites

    Alpha Inn & Suites

    Hotel Class:
    3
    2 reviews

Alpha Inn & Suites is a motel located on Lombard Street, which means you can quickly get to the Golden Gate Bridge with your car. The Marina and Crissy Field are easily accessible, the Presidio is minutes away and Cow Hollow dining is within walking distance. The motel isn’t the prettiest, but it provides good amenities like free parking, free ...

    Greenwich Inn

    Hotel Class:
    3
    2 reviews

Greenwich Inn is a motel in the Cow Hollow neighborhood of San Francisco. It’s very close to Lombard Street, which provides easy access to the North Bay if you are traveling with a car. I suspect you’d want to stay at Greenwich Inn because you have a car, in which case it is a good option. Rooms are standard; They’re ...

    Civic Center Inn

    Civic Center Inn

    Hotel Class:
    3
    2 reviews

Civic Center Inn is a motel with rooms you would expect from an average motel. Parking and Wi-Fi are free, and the service here is friendly and professional. The only major downside is its location. There are homeless people always loitering around this block, and while security is provided at this motel, it's not a place I would recommend for ...

    Aida Hotel

    Aida Hotel

    Hotel Class:
    3
    2 reviews

Aida Hotel, located on the corner of Market and 7th Street, is budget-friendly no-frills hotel in a historical building that was once owned by a previous San Francisco mayor. The building itself is beautiful, and the lobby, littered with old jukeboxes, chandeliers, and seating reminds me of old San Francisco past. A multitude of signs and hotel information plaster the ...

    The Grant Hotel

Cheap and cheerful. Great for a short stay in SF and stay close to the action. Rooms are clean, with TV, bath and Shower. Did not like the staff at the front desk especially the old unhelpful guy. But sure I don't stay in a hotel to bond with the staff.

    CitiGarden Hotel

    Hotel Class:

If you have a car, this is a decent hotel to stay in and drive into the city from. It's not much of a vacation location by itself, but compared to the price of hotels in SF, it's decent and in a close enough location (10-15 minutes on the freeway). It's a former Ramada and has a pool and breakfast ...

    Mission Inn

    Mission Inn

    Hotel Class:

This is the kind of place (believe me, I speak from experience) the Red Cross puts you up if your house just caught on fire. Compared to the rest of the city, it's in a pretty crappy location and there's absolutely nothing charming or special about it. But a room here costs less than parking and taxes at most San ...

    Andrews Hotel

    Andrews Hotel

    Hotel Class:
    3
    1 review

The hotel was formerly a Turkish bath house and is charmingly quirky with old gated elevator and unusual controls to operate it. We booked a standard room, which we expected would be small, but received a corner room with a separate bedroom and sitting area, so had plenty of space. The room was very comfortable and the windows, including the ...
