    The Fairmont San Francisco

    The Fairmont San Francisco

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    69 reviews
Excellent! - 85% of guests recommend

This was a surreal experience. We got to stay at the Fairmont Suite, which the Clintons, Romneys, Obamas and many celebrities and world leaders have stayed. The views and the decor in the rooms were sensational. I truly felt like like royalty in every way possible. The hotel itself is very old-world and special in a top-knotch aristocratic way.

    W San Francisco

    W San Francisco

    Hotel Class:
    4
    70 reviews
Good! - 79% of guests recommend

Though some of the W hotels worldwide are too-hip and tired, this branch is different. In SoMa, it's a sexy launching pad for city and bayfront explorations, and though parking is expensive, it's well-connected to public transit. Plus, the location is less hectic and touristed than Union Square hotels.

    The Westin St. Francis

    Hotel Class:

    53 reviews
Good! - 78% of guests recommend

Westin St. Francis may have the best hotel location in all of San Francisco. Directly facing Union Square, it’s front side forms one of the four wall of buildings enclosing the park. During Christmas, it’s even more beautiful as the building is illuminated in a dramatic fashion such that it serves as a wonderful backdrop for photos of the Union ...

    Clift Hotel San Francisco

    Clift Hotel San Francisco

    Hotel Class:
    4
    37 reviews

If you want to be near Union Square, this boutique hotel has an edge. Contemporary-chic decor, cozy rooms and a downstairs bar that's always happening during happy hour and late night makes it a great choice - and you'll usually pay less than at the big high-rise chain hotels nearby. The big downside is expensive overnight parking - don't bring ...

    Palace Hotel

    Palace Hotel

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    33 reviews

The Palace Hotel is one of the most architecturally beautiful buildings in SF. If you're looking for a central place to stay when traveling to the city, or just looking for a great weekend retreat for a little "staycation," the Palace Hotel is always a great choice.

This is one of my favorite hotels in the city. The lobby is gorgeous, the restaurant and room service are both top notch, and the location is hard to beat, sitting next door to Yerba Buena Gardens, the MOMA, and Market Street.

A very nice hotel located right in the middle of Union Square. I stayed here with my boyfriend and his family for his birthday weekend, and found it to be a very enjoyable stay. Apparently the 2nd floor is where you check in, and while it's a very nice floor (really white), there's a lot of empty space that is ...

My company placed me in at this hotel for MacWorld. We came into the morning and dropped off our car. The valet parking was about $50 for 24 hours. We didn't quite care since our company was paying for it. But, it is a step and harsh price. The doorman was helpful enough to suggest us to park at a ...

I got lost many times in this hotel - and it's not just because I have a bad sense of direction. The Hilton in Union Square is enormous. They often host conferences here just because of its large capacity (and because there is a Starbucks in the lobby that can keep people fueled). The rooms are standard size, comfy and ...

Love this hotel! It's the second time I've stayed here and enjoyed both times. It's in an EXCELLENT location and has an amazing sky bar on the 39th floor. The room we received was very spacious and clean, more than we expected! The hotel was nice in general, but it's really expensive here. It was $14 a day for Internet ...

What a "wow" location. View of the bay bridge, right on the embarcadero, walking distance to some of the hottest restaurants and bars in downtown San Francisco. This boutique hotel does a really good job of making you feel like a uniquely special guest. The rooms are comfortable and most of them have spectacular views of the city. Bonus: the ...

Got a pretty good deal for a room here via http://Priceline.com, and had an overall pleasant experience here. This is one of the better Four Seasons properties that I have stayed at in the US. Great location, rooms, and impeccable but friendly service. Really nothing not to like. Recent construction means that the property doesn't have the tired feel of of some of the properties on the East Coast. Loved the corner room -- lot's of light and ...

This is a pretty standard Hilton - nice but corporate feeling. It is right at the gateway to Chinatown and North Beach (both only steps away) - so a great location for exploring the city's diversity. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Parking is expensive!
