    The Fairmont San Francisco

    The Fairmont San Francisco

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    69 reviews
Excellent! - 85% of guests recommend

The Fairmont is great! I recommend coming here during Christmas time every single year because they always have the world's biggest gingerbread house! It's made with ginger bricks and you can actually walk through it! I recommend going to tea during the holidays, or if you don't want to spend $60+, just come during the afternoon for a holiday themed ...

    W San Francisco

    W San Francisco

    Hotel Class:
    4
    70 reviews
Good! - 79% of guests recommend

Eh, this W location could be nicer. I suppose real-estate is expensive in San Francisco, but the hotel feels somewhat cramped. The rooms are quality, clean, and comfortable-- it's just not as nice as some of the other W locations I've stayed at. Also, the W style doesn't really mesh well with San Francisco. In fact, the LA-like lobby-- purple, ...

    The Westin St. Francis

    The Westin St. Francis

    Hotel Class:
    4
    53 reviews
Good! - 78% of guests recommend

You couldn't have a better location but room quality really varies and some units are in desperate need of renovation. Very popular for conferences and can be insanely crowded / overrun. A good choice if it is on fire sale but, otherwise, other nearby properties offer similar convenience with less hassle.

    Clift Hotel San Francisco

    Clift Hotel San Francisco

    Hotel Class:
    4
    37 reviews

If you want to be near Union Square, this boutique hotel has an edge. Contemporary-chic decor, cozy rooms and a downstairs bar that's always happening during happy hour and late night makes it a great choice - and you'll usually pay less than at the big high-rise chain hotels nearby. The big downside is expensive overnight parking - don't bring ...

    Palace Hotel

    Palace Hotel

    Hotel Class:

Only the best for this princess! The Palace Hotel in San Francisco! Located directly in front of the BART. Easy to get to if you're coming from the airport. It's in the middle of everything. And, for those nights when you're out late and everything seems to be closed... McDonalds is right next door. I didn't have any problems staying ...

    St. Regis Hotel, San Francisco

    St. Regis Hotel, San Francisco

    Hotel Class:
    5
    23 reviews
Excellent! - 88% of guests recommend

I can't say this is my favorite St. Regis in the world but it's up there. The rooms are very elegant and sophisticated with a modern twist. The staff is very accommodating UNLESS you are trying to order food at the bar after a certain time. You will have to get roomservice instead. The bar area is really cosy and ...

    Hyatt Regency San Francisco

    Hotel Class:

Very Good! - 81% of guests recommend

This was in 1980, the last stop on my first ever coast-co-coast tour of the US. Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan were slugging it out for the White House (hmm, how did that turn out?). The San Francisco Hyatt (which I chose because I'd seen it in Mel Brooks's movie HIGH ANXIETY) was the most luxurious hotel I'd ever stayed ...

Excellent! - 97% of guests recommend

I had High Tea at the Ritz Carlton with one of my best girlfriends, and it was amazing! We went here to celebrate her graduation from residency, and I wanted to find a place as grand and delicious and special as High Tea at the Peninsula in Beverly Hills. We were not disappointed. The tea. I chose Earl Grey, and ...

GORGEOUS. I didn't know about this hotel until my recent trip to SF. We had a city view from our room and let me tell you -- it made me fall in love with SF all over again. Service was great and the lobby had a lounge that looked pretty busy. I would definitely stay here again!

    Westin San Francisco Market Street

    Hotel Class:

    19 reviews
Very Good! - 83% of guests recommend

This particular Westin is ideal for business travelers because of its central location downtown, and for me, as a crash pad in SF. I got a very reasonable rate from http://Expedia.com just three days before. Our spacious room was on the 17th floor, and had a great view of the city. The only issue was that we had a room ...

I paid about $85 a night for a two night stay through Priceline last May. I was attending an event at Moscone Convention Center, so the location couldn't be beat. This is a luxurious Marriott property that's convenient to BART, shopping, etc.

    InterContinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    15 reviews
Very Good! - 84% of guests recommend

There is something very regal feeling about walking into the lobby of the Mark Hopkins. Soaring ceilings, huge crystal chandeliers - it feels like stepping into a scene from a 20s gangster film. Overall we had a good stay here. The rooms were small but nice, with great views over the city. The beds were pretty comfortable. Service was solid.

    Mandarin Oriental

    Hotel Class:

Excellent! - 89% of guests recommend

This is a very solid property but it isn't as nice as other Mandarin Oriental properties and certainly isn't the best hotel in the city. I stayed in an Executive Corner Suite which had a city view (i.e., not the bay). The property has a lot to offer and is a good hotel. Highlights are: - excellent views from the ...

Wonderful hotel on the Embarcadero, with a stunning view of the Bay Bridge. The entire staff, from the doorman to the concierge, to the bartenders in Americano and the housekeeper, was extremely welcoming and hospitable. I stayed in an amazing room with a breathtaking bay view on the 7th floor (there are 8 floors in this lovely boutique hotel). Although ...

I competed in a marathon in 2010, the host hotel was the Omni. I have stayed in many Omni hotes before, however this one was by far the best. As you can imagine, resting up for the marathon and then after was a huge need. The esthetic is amazing. There was fresh fruit water (water with slices of fruit in ...

    Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf Hotel

I really enjoyed my stay at the sheraton. It was just off the main drag of the wharf, which made it nice and quiet, but it was so close to everything that it really wasn't a problem at all to get to the restaurants on the wharf and in north beach. I really enjoyed the windowside desk in my room ...

    Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco

This is one of the better Four Seasons properties that I have stayed at in the US. Great location, rooms, and impeccable but friendly service. Really nothing not to like. Recent construction means that the property doesn't have the tired feel of of some of the properties on the East Coast. Loved the corner room -- lot's of light and ...

    Grand Hyatt San Francisco

    Grand Hyatt San Francisco

Excellent! - 86% of guests recommend

I booked a staycation here just prior to moving to the city...the best thing about the hotel is location- it's right in Union Square. The rooms have been renovated so they are nice and new, but somewhat sterile and characterless. While decent, I still don't think this hotel is on par with the Grand Hyatt hotels in other cities.

Great Location! We were able to explore North Beach and Chinatown, many sights to see well within walking distance. As for the hotel, it is a pretty standard hilton. Our rooms were clean and the service was good.
