    Dosa on Fillmore

    31 reviews

Been here twice now and had no complaints. It is hard to get a table so book in advance but completely worth the wait!! Their cocktails have a great play on Indian flavors. My personal choice is the Bengali Gimlet. The vada Pav is a nicely portioned appetizer with a salad that comes in a mint dressing. I have tried ...

    Greens Restaurant

    11 reviews

Built in part by the San Francisco Zen Center in the 70s, this icon of vegetarian cuisine in the United States is also located in one of the city's center of culture, Fort Mason. Come to dine on ground-breaking healthy gourmet meals amidst a backdrop of reclaimed lumber decor and a view of sailboats on the San Francisco Bay. Or ...

    Millennium Restaurant

    12 reviews

Vegetarian travelers are always on the lookout for restaurants that can truly capture the essence of a spectacular city. Millennium is perhaps one of the best examples of this in the world. Diners get all of the glam of upscale, creative, foodie San Francisco, without the meat.

    Ike's Place

    34 reviews

A very San Franciscan cheap eats spot, the Castro District institution usually sports a line out the door. You can upgrade from the 'Captain Kirk' (vegan breaded chicken, avocado, pepper jack, sweet orange glaze) to the 'We're JUST friends' simply by swapping in halal chicken instead.

    Samovar Tea Lounge

    35 reviews

I haven't tried the food but the tea selection here is excellent. Seats are comfortable and the staff are friendly. Atmosphere is half Moroccan hookah lounge / half Chinese opium den. One of the few places I've gone to that has yerba mate. Would be better if they had free wi-fi.

    Cha-Ya

    5 reviews

Entirely vegan Japanese food that is fabulous. Try the Cha-Ya roll- it's a veggie roll that is dipped in tempura batter, fried, and sprinkled with their special sauce. No reservations, cash only, and usually a long wait at dinner.

    Tony's Pizza Napoletana

    34 reviews

The absolute best pizza in San Francisco. Traditional, super thin crust, italian (not NY) style pizza. If you are going to do north beach, this is the place to come. Book ahead - this place gets packed, and for good reason. Try the New Yorker with coal fired 1000 degree oven. The meatballs are also divine.

    Slanted Door

As the signature restaurant inside the San Francisco Ferry Building Marketplace, you better believe Slanted Door is a foodie's dream. Melding Vietnamese traditional dishes with local ingredients, Slanted Door constantly gets high marks on its cuisine. However, the location is as good as the food. Book an early dinner reservation and come early to wander the ferry building for an ...

    Ananda Fuara

    3 reviews

Ananda Fuara doesn't look like anything special from its inconspicuous entrance on Market Street near the Civic Center. But it has some of the best vegetarian food I've ever eaten. I've been coming here for years, and have never been disappointed by their menu. The "neatloaf" is especially tasty, as is the Wild Mushroom benedict if you come for breakfast.

    Source

    8 reviews

Organic, vegetarian restaurant in SOMA. No meat here, but for me that means less guilt over eating a large dinner meal! Burgers and mac and cheese were both delicious! Order at the counter, then find a seat. Food is brought to your table. Cute outdoor patio, too!

    Weird Fish

    6 reviews

As a vegetarian, I was at first skeptical of a seafood hole-in-the-wall in the Mission called Weird Fish. Now it's hard to convince me to eat elsewhere in the neighborhood: this cafe (whose unusual decor resembles that of a boat) also has an amazingly tasty selection of vegetarian foods, such as the "Hell Taco" composed of seitan, grilled onion, avocado, ...

    Squat & Gobble Cafe

My wife makes it a point to make sure we eat here whenever we have a chance. I really like the eggless tofu scramble with potatoes and when we went last week, their water had lemon and mint in it. It's like they can read my mind. They have a nice variety (including many vegetarian options) on their menu. From ...

    Zazie

    28 reviews

Best brunch in San Francisco - hands down. It's a bit of a wait - maybe 30 - 40 mins on the weekend but well worth it. Highly recommend trying the Lemon Ricotta pancakes and Eggs Benedict (eggs florentine especially!)

    Papalote Mexican Grill

    14 reviews

The ingredients are fresh, flavorful and zesty -- which also describes Papalote's famous salsa. They receive extra kudos for having a variety of vegetarian options, including a delicious tofu taco with mole sauce.

    Lucky Creation

I love this place. Really tasty, simple, vegan Chinese food. It says a lot that we're normally the only non-Chinese people in there. Huge portions, and cheap too.

    Herbivore

    4 reviews

Herbivore carries an extensive, reasonably priced selection of vegetarian foods -- from Asian influenced dishes like pad thai, to creative Italian dishes like penne with lemon herb cream sauce to comfort food staples like mac and (soy) cheese. Definitely recommend this place for carnivores and herbivores alike!

    Bi-Rite Creamery

Bi-Rite Creamery is just the appropriate venue for me to celebrate this 1000th review (and hopefully more to come) as it is the definition of what happens when people get together and share their opinions and love for food with the world. It results in a good 20 minute line around the block for this little creamery that serves up ...
