    Humphry Slocombe

I knew Ciao Bella closed down months ago, and have been meaning to try Humphrey Slocombe ever since its opening. So here I was, on a sunny Friday afternoon, mid 70s weather, perfect time to take a stroll to the Ferry building for an afternoon delight. My only mistake…going after lunch rush where everyone and their uncles would be lining ...

    Monk's Kettle

This place is tiny, but they have an awesome selection of beers. You can only sit at a table if you're eating a meal, so that makes it even more crowded. I haven't had the food here, but the extensive beer list is reason enough to go here.

    bix

Bix is good food. Some dishes are great here like their pork chops. Yum... felt like butter in my mouth. Since one reviewer posted a limerick here, I'll post my Ode To Bacon since the way they do their pork is solid: Bacon, oh, bacon You wonderful thing! The tigers and lions All rise and sing! The grease that comes ...

    Tadich Grill

A San Francisco institution, to say the least. Seafood lover? Don't walk, run. No reservations so be prepared to wait. Whenever I walk in here, it feels like a scene straight out of Midnight in Paris, when Gil is transported back in time to walk into an old bar with some of the Gatsby characters. Order a gin rickey and ...

    El Rio

A top spot for some cheap beer and a good place to meet some grungy locals. Come with tats exposed and a hoody for charm. Great outside decked garden called "el patio" in the back. It used to be a cool neighborhood bar, but now pulls in people from around the city. Cash only.

    Perbacco

been here a few times and quite happy every time. the salumi misti appetizer is well known, a platter featuring a variety of cured meats. a bit rich and salty, as expected, but worth trying at least once. we've typically gotten the "tris", a trio of fresh pastas at $18/person, a nice way to sample a variety of tasty fresh ...

    Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub

We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and it fit the bill perfectly. There's dancing in the lower level, while mostly the upper level is people trying to get drinks. It fits well for a large group, as people tend to either like to dance or stand around and drink. Afterwards, a dirty dog vendor was posted out front. ...

    Pig & Whistle Bar

Pig and Whistle is a Pub right off Geary from the Japantown district. I came here and got the sheperd's pie with a glass of beer. Washes down great and is probably one the cheapest spots in town. Can't go wrong here.

    Blarney Stone Bar & Restaurant

A St. Patrick's Day Story... Year after year, I'm lured downtown to gawk at the pig pen that is Front St. on St. Patrick's Day. $13 beers in a giant boot while crammed against bros declaring their love for Journey? No thanks, holmes. The result is the same. I grab the fastest bus I can and head for an Irish ...

    Frozen Kuhsterd

Frozen Kuhsterd is a Frozen Custard Dessert Truck. I had a wonderful "taste" when the Truck was parked at the Heritage Day festivities at Old Borges Ranch in Open Space Walnut Creek. It's not quite up to Wisconsin (e.g. Leon's) standards, but it's pretty darn good.

    Three Twins Ice Cream

I stopped at Three Twins Ice Cream today on the way back to the car after an afternoon conversation with a fellow employee at Toronado. Ice Cream doesn't cancel alcohol, but my one scoop dish of chocolate coffee crunch was pretty delicious and a nice contrast to Imperial IPA.

    Bitter End

The Bitter End is a great Irish pub in the Richmond. If you're not looking for a show or pool or anything that requires movement, Bitter End is the perfect place. There's enough seating here for everyone (except during sports nights, as it can still get packed). Service is really friendly.

    Showdogs

Showdogs offers some of San Francisco’s best hot dogs. They have a diverse offering, something for everyone. I really like that they have offerings from 4505 meats for their dogs (bacon filled dogs mmmm). Their beer selection is also very good here; they have unique stuff like the watermelon beer from 21st Amendment. The prices here aren’t bad either, great ...

    Elephant & Castle

Trivia at Elephant & Castle is no joke (usually held on Thursdays around 6). It almost feels like a Jeopardy match - but in teams - and the regulars show up early to stake out a table hours before the game actually starts. But if you do manage to score a spot, you're in for a treat. The beer and ...

    The Plough & Stars

Of the many Irish bars in the Inner Richmond, this seems to be one of the more authentic ones. The bartenders (at least most of them) are Irish, and there is live music, often times Gaelic, that plays almost every night. It is a pretty dirty bar, which is why I only went a few times - the floor is ...

    Ireland's 32

I've always had a great time at this bar, from just visiting to performing here three times with my own band. The staff were friendly, and I particularly love how they cater to the local community by providing a space for music classes for kids. The beer is good and the food is tasty. Prices aren't particularly cheap compared to ...
