Most people go to Belize for the reefs and the beach, but San Ignacio highlights how epic the jungle is here too. There are multiple caves here willed with ancient Mayan pottery and bones. You can wade through them or raft down them. Plus you can go trekking through the jungle, take a special tour to learn about medicinal plants, the fauna, or hike to a viewpoint. Worth a couple days of hanging out and great contract to the sea.

A great little town by the Guatemalan border, full of great restaurants and guides for trips to Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM), some incredible caves that the Maya believed were an entrance to the underworld, as well as other spots. If you're going to/from Tikal, this is a good place to stop for a few days.
