We had an incredible time exploring Manuel Antonio National Park! We got there at 7am (highly recommended) and spent our morning spotting sloths, monkeys and creatures of all kinds. Be sure to bring food/drinks as nothing is sold in the park. We also did the hike to Punta Catedral - a must do. Check out our post for mrs details, ...

A throw back to the Costa Rican backcountry surfing towns of yesteryear. Unlike much of the Pacific coast, not a lot has changed here in the past 20 years. It's still gravel roads, surf shack bars, dense jungle, waterfalls and amazing surf. Great place to kick back and lose yourself.

Endless back sand beaches, and a fair amount of tourism. If you want to hae some beach to yourself just head out of town in either direction and you will soon find solitud. Beach goers who prefer white sand beaches may be a bit dissappointed, surfers will not be though. Tons of breaks including playa hermosa.

You will be forgiven for not hearing about this small town in Costa Rica. In fact you will be forgiven for only being able to find minimal information about this district in the province of Alajuela. You will even be forgiven for not knowing that it is located in Alajuela mountain range, and is one of the most scenic places ...
