Measuring approximately 62 square miles (160 square kms), the massive Barva Volcano sits at the edge of Costa Rica’s Central Valley. Scientists believe that the dormant volcano was last active 3,000 to 5,000 years ago.It forms “Braulio Carrillo” National Park’s highest point, approximately 9,700 feet (2,950 mts) above sea level. El Sotano

    Avenida 11 y Calle 3

A small but friendly jazz bar that is located in the basement (hence sotano) of an art gallery. They host local bands almost every day of the week. There isn't a lot of sitting space, but if you don't mind standing it is a fun place to listen to some local jazz musicians

This place was kinda cool. We stumbled upon Serpentario while we were walking around trying to kill time. It was fun to see the snakes and turtles here.. but it's not something you haven't already seen in the zoo. It's a quick way to spend around half an hour of your time. The place was pretty clean and fresh.

This is a standard Baroque style church built in the 1900’s, and contains beautiful original bells and an organ. The Swiss stained glass windows are particularly appealing.

A standard arts and crafts market just across from the national museum. The products are pricey and relatively uninteresting.

A total dive bar. The staff is definitely friendly, and it is open late. However, it is pretty dirty. It is fine for a beer, but I wouldn't recommend ordering food there.

    Universidad de Cooperación Internacional

Calle 14, San Jose, Costa Rica

Relatively small campus, which should come as no surprise as UCI specializes primarily in distance learning. The education staff is very friendly, and well organized. With a strong IT infrastructure and staff they are more than capable of handling the growing demand for their many educational programs
