San Jose del Cabo is okay to stay if you are on a budget. For some odd reason this place has a foul kind of smell when I was at their beach. Maybe because it is the horseback riding that was near by or just the place in general.

Overall, my stay was here was decent. I can't stay much about what to do here beside going to the beach, horseback riding, or some other outdoor activities that they have. If you want, just take the taxi and go to the city of Cabo for night life and better hotel.

The mission San José del Cabo was founded in 1730, and the quaint town of San José del Cabo offers varied and exquisite local cuisine, a vibrant and engaging art community and a peaceful and relaxing historic village atmosphere.

Very cool little town of about 60K - you can find most anything you need and it is so much saner and authentic than Cabo San Lucas... Art Walk on Thurs evenings, Saturday farmer's market, etc. etc.

The difference between San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, as an experience is night and day. There is not the extreme nightlife and you won't feel like you are in hipster hell. There are many 5* Hotels, upscale restaurants and more quality Mexican experiences. My preference.

Loved the beaches here. Not much to see outside of your resort - at least for me. We've been to Cancun before as well and it seems that each downtown spot in MX has much of the same vibe. I'm any case, I enjoy being at the pool or on the beach best

Seems more residential and commerical than CLS. There are some golf courses and hotels here though. Seems like it is for the traveler that wants to avoid the CSL hype.

Stayed at Barcelo Resort - a 5 star resort. Travel agent recommended this place. Weather was hot but with the breeze, you never feel how hot it really is. They have not had rain in two years!

Nice pool, cheezy nightly entertainment at the resort. Resort was not too busy; primarily couples and young families. Not a place to come to if you want to party and meet singles. There is a sports lounge and piano bar, but no real place to dance. There are several fine dining restaurants, not bad.

Hotel is next to the hedonistic resort Desires (formerly Temptations). The music blaring from the resort was tempting, but did not manage to 'crash' the party. Heard from the tour guide that when it was Temptations, can pay US$75 to visit as a guest for dinner and dancing. Not confirmed if this is true under the new management.

Shuttle bus to Cabo is US$16 return for day trips. Taxi costs US$34 to get into town.

Cabo San Lucas is a party town. Go to the beach and have a drink at Mango Deck (like Senor Frogs)! The actual downtown is not like PV which I find more interesting strolling down the Malecon.

Snorkel trip with Baja Adventures not too bad. Get to see Lover's Arch and then snorkel for an hour in the bay for US$79.

I like San Jose del Cabo better than Cabo San Lucas. Very quiet little town with some great art galleries and some pretty good restaurants.

We stayed at San Jose del Cabo, Mexico but explored Cabo San Lucas, Mexico as well, which is 20 mins. away via Taxi. Beautiful cities. Just be careful at the airport! Guys with ID tags pretending to help you are actually there to lure you in to a timeshare set up. They'll offer you "good" deals like free dinner cruise but will take 3 hours of your time trying to convince you to buy their timeshare.

Find Hotels in San Jose del Cabo:

Description

The less-crowded sister city to Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo is Los Cabos' Old Town area. While the entire area has exploded recently as a good-time vacation destination (you can find anything from day-long fishing expeditions to all-night rave parties), San Jose del Cabo has kept a slightly quieter profile. Anchored nearest the Los Cabos airport and connected to Cabo San Lucas by a 20-mile strip (known as the 'Resort Corridor'), San Jose del Cabo offers more bird-watching, fishing and snorkeling than spring break parties.
