San Luis Obispo County Farmers' Market

    12 reviews

Best farmers market ever! Always on a Thursday, it starts later than most farmers markets because it's really more of a street faire. For locals it's a huge social event, and has been for decades. Located in downtown SLO on Higuera Street, if you are in town don't miss it!

    Avila Valley Barn

    12 reviews

Just off Hwy 101, this is a fun stop for families, or just anyone who appreciates an honest-to-goodness farm stand. Almost everything sold here is fresh and seasonal. During the height of summer, you can pick your own berries, then come back in fall for u-pick apples and pumpkins. If you want to taste something unique to the region, look ...

    Old Mission San Luis Obispo

    8 reviews

Learn the history of the Old Mission San Luis Obispo. I usually come here if I'm by downtown SLO and want to stroll around after eating. Many families come here to explore or just walk after having a meal from downtown. Occasionally there would be events. Great place to take your kids or your mates. During the holidays, their trees ...

    Baileyana Winery Tasting Room

    5 reviews

One of the friendliest, most scenically situated and interesting tasting rooms in San Luis Obispo's Edna Valley. Here five different family-owned winemaking labels have joined forces. Step inside the historical schoolhouse perched on a knoll among the vineyards. Don't leave without trying the Cadre pinot noir or the Zocker Gruner-Veltliner, which always sell out fast.

    California Polytechnic State University

    5 reviews

As a tourist destination it doesn't offer much. Mainly industrial style architecture and typical college cafes. The natural rugged California environment is lovely.

    Sunset Drive-In

    5 reviews

Super cute place for a date! Best on warm nights and even tailgating. You can get some people in the back of the truck wrapped in warm blankets instead of sitting inside the car (last I checked at least).

    Chamisal Vineyards

    3 reviews

The Chamisal winery (pronounced Shammissall) makes some excellent wine. Chamisal vineyard (80 acres) is the first vineyard planted in Edna Valley and the tasting room is where Domaine Alfred used to be. You can either taste in the converted barn (with some excellent photos on the wall), or outside on their patio. The Pinot Noir is very good, and we ...

Close to the airport south of San Luis Obispo, Tolosa hosts great events, particularly when they have live music outside. The tasting room is big and offers many gifts for sale too.

    Edna Valley Vineyard

    3 reviews

Of all the family-owned wineries in the Edna Valley, just a grape's toss from downtown San Luis Obispo (SLO), this one has the most gasp-worthy view. Stand at the tasting room bar and gaze across the vineyards to the gently rolling hills beyond the farm fields. The Paragon vineyard Chardonnay is worth the extra price tag.

    Stephen Ross Wine Cellars

    2 reviews

Stephen Ross Dooley used to be winemaker for Edna Valley, and he now has a winery under his own name (started in 1994) which specializes in Vineyard-Designated Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Zinfandel. The tasting room location isn't that appealing (it's in an industrial park/strip mall looking area) but the wines here are excellent. Our favorites here were the Bien Nacido ...

    Fremont Theater

    2 reviews

Also know as the "Big Fremont," this downtown movie theater in San Luis Obispo has a gorgeous, huge art deco-esque sign outside, brilliantly lit up with pink, blue, yellow and green neon. Look for Midnight Madness movies and also the SLO Rewind series, where they show classic masterpieces like Vertigo and the Godfather on special nights.

    Gopher Glen Apple Farm

    2 reviews

In the pastoral See Canyon, between Avila Beach and Hwy 101, this small family-run apple farm is only open from September through November. Of all the See Canyon apple farms, they usually have the biggest variety of apple types, including some heritage varieties that you've probably never tasted before. Delish! You can get samples of everything before you buy. Warning: ...

    Rocket Fizz

    2 reviews

First of all, we found an Australian candy bar here that my friend loves and hasn't been able to find in the US anymore. Second, what a fantastic selection of sodas! We couldn't help but get a 6 pack. Had some great ones (Sprecher Puma Kola especially) and some interesting ones (Brownie Cookie Dough soda, Prickly Pear). Awesome!

    Frog & Peach Pub

Are you a beer person and love listening to live bands? Well, this would be the place for you. Many people come here to just hang out and chill. Most band nights, there's a $2 charge, however, not sure if that's every time there's a band there. I find this place a bit of a hipster and 'i just want ...

    Claiborne & Churchill Vintners

    2 reviews

We got to the winery later in the day, and found the wines here to be very unique. They do "Italian varietal" versions of Gewurztraminer and Rieslings - which I truly enjoyed. They also have great reds as well. The tasting room is actually in a large room that also has the barrels and tanks as well. Very well decorated ...

    Library

    2 reviews

Like to dance and want a LA club feeling without needing to dress up? Well, the library seems to have that vibe! The library is located in downtown SLO. Mostly college kids and now mixed with adults in their 30s, which I was surprised. Drinks are inexpensive and music wasn't too shabby. You will have some random mix and EDM ...
