Wanna meet the locals? Show up on Thursday nights for downtown SLO's farmers market. It's not just about the fresh fruits, veggies, artisan honey and jams, organic teas and spices. It's also about the live music, the nonprofit and political activists' booths, and the local restaurant food vendors (McClintock's barbecue always has the longest lines, but I also like the Middle Eastern wraps from Oasis restaurant across the street). Tip: Don't show up too early, because nobody is allowed to sell anything before the official market whistle blows at 6:10pm!

On Thursday nights from 6 to 9 pm., enjoy local music, food, local fresh produce and flowers, and more, on the downtown street of Higuera. Lots of shopping too! - The Gap, Starbucks, Victoria's Secret, Chico's, Sephora, Urban Outfitters, Pottery Barn, boutique clothing stores, art, restaurants.

It's happening every Thursday evening around 6-8pm, rain or shine. It's a great place to meet up with friends for food and drinks, buy fresh groceries from local farmers, eat a lot of BBQ, look for volunteering opportunities and ways to get involved with the community.
It's a must stay for if you come visit beautiful San Luis Obispo. Watch for special events such as Thursdays before the first week of school at Cal Poly and Homecoming weeks where special vendors are on site from the community and the college with freebies and learning opportunities. There are always live bands and upcoming local talent in the lineup.
Totally recommended and fun for all ages. There is normally also bike parking to encourage people to stay green and ride bikes. You can't go and not smile. :)

A lively evening farmer's market spanning 5 blocks long in the heart of downtown SLO. Bring cash for vendors and a reusable eco bag for buying fresh produce. BBQ stands stood out to be the food to buy with long lines 20-30 people deep.

This weekly Farmer's Market on Higuera street in SLO every Thursday is like a Block Party, Farmer's Market, Street Fair, Flea Market, and County Fair all wrapped into one.
They shut down about 6 blocks of the main drag, Higuera street from 6 - 9 every Thursday nght and have this big bash!
you can of course get fresh produce, but you can also get just about anything else you might find in all of the aformentioned venues.
Live Music? Check!
More live music? Check!
Political party sign-ups? Check!
Hot Corn on the Cob? Check!
You name it, you can find it here. That includes semi-drunk college hotties roaming the streets looking for a good time with friends! And a lot of the older and younger locals enjoying the scene!

Best farmers market ever! Always on a Thursday, it starts later than most farmers markets because it's really more of a street faire. For locals it's a huge social event, and has been for decades. Located in downtown SLO on Higuera Street, if you are in town don't miss it!
