Even if you don’t end up staying at San Want Hotel, you absolutely must visit the hotel’s bakery to pick up a few breads and pastries for breakfast. Located adjacent to the main hotel’s main doors with a separate entrance, Pozzo may be the most profitable bakery in Taipei, featuring a huge variety of both European as well as Taiwanese style breads, such as red bean and taro-filled buns. It’s hard to find good dimsum in Taipei, but the hotel’s Cantonese restaurant, Chao Ping Ji, is the closest I’ve tried so far. Dining aside, the location is perfect, in the eastern district, right next to the Zhongxiao Dunhua MRT station, near SOGO and Breeze Center department stores, and one stop away from Taipei 101.

The location is great, very convenient, right next to the MRT station. And it’s right in the middle of Taipei’s shopping center. It’s an older hotel and you can tell from the outside, but the interior has been renovated more recently. Rooms are spacious but simple, without any unnecessary furnishings. There’s several pieces of art displayed around the hotel, including inside the French All Day Dining semi-buffet restaurant. I haven’t eaten there, but the décor is very ornate and impressive. However, I have eaten at the Cantonese-style dimsum at Chao Ping Ji restaurant is very good. In fact, I took my mother here for her birthday. The bakery is also very famous, and makes some really delicious breads. My favorite is their egg custard tarts.
