Beautifully designed - elegant engineering and close to the cottage - best of all if you go straight you can avoid Periwinkle traffic to go the round about way the locals use to easily get to the cottage - a huge reason we purchased our cottage on the east end. Go Easter morning for Sunrise service - go on full moons to watch with the other gazers and if NASA ever brings back launches - this was the place to view them (also any meteorite showers) and Sanibels low light laws make the island practically invisible at night - better for sea turtles and star gazing.

The Sanibel Causeway connects the beach communities of Sanibel and Captiva Islands with the city of Fort Myers. The causeway actually hops from one small island to another and each of the islands has beaches that are popular with fishermen and swimmers. The drive is phenomenal as you're likely to sea Dolphins leaping in the water at any second.
