Love Santa Barbara! Such a gorgeous city and there is so much to do there, I go all the time! The beaches are amazing and so is the downtown area! I recommend the hiking the though, there are some excellent trails and the view from the top is well worth the struggle! I was just there and I stayed at the Sandman Inn (www.thesandmaninn.com). So budget friendly and the location is superb!

Great town with great beaches and lots to do ranging in budget from starving student to fancy schmancy. We have a family reunion of sorts every year at the Family Vacation Center on the UCSB campus.

This city is beautiful! It's a great place for a bike ride or just a walk on the beach. Santa Barbara offers a variety of things to do, my personal favorites are whale watching and the trolley tour. The Trolley takes you through the historic places of the city and it's a great way to get to know Santa Barbara. I would recommend taking the tour in the morning and then go to Downtown which is full of great restaurants and shops.

Oh Santa Barbara! You are the greatest middle child of California, not quite San Francisco not quite Los Angeles. Tucked away in Central California - Pacific Blue and the Channel Islands with the ominous Painted Cave in the forefront, the mountainous Santa Ynez in the back, you really do have it all. When the Santa Ana winds come howling through, you command California Fan Palms into a dance frenzy. Walk down State St in the day for some high-end shopping or at night for some open-air bar hopping. Keep your eyes open to the Spanish Architecture, pay homage to the Chumash civilization, check out the Mission and its special events when artists come to town and create fabulous works of street art. Catch (and release) sand sharks off the piers, go whale watching, enjoy some fine wine and dine, and soak your tired body in the scenic Caliente Hot Springs when you're done. Oh, and I guess find some time to do your golf thing at the lovely Bacara Resort.

Description

A seaside town noted for its laid-back atmosphere and availability of amenities usually only found in larger cities, Santa Barbara is a great place for vacationers looking to hit the beach, surf or enjoy high quality dining options and local wineries. As home of UC Santa Barbara, the town has a vibrant student culture, ensuring that a variety of local cultural events and acts make their way to the town, in addition to a plethora of trendy boutiques and larger chain stores. Families can enjoy their stay in attractions such as Santa Barbara’s zoo or botanical gardens, and later spend the evenings shopping and dining at Stearns Wharf, which has a breathtaking view of pristine California coastline. Architecture buffs should be sure to stop by the Santa Barbara Mission, known as the “Queen of all Missions," which features authentic Franciscan Spanish architecture. Hotels in Santa Barbara are plentiful and high quality (no dives here), and downtown is small enough to get around on foot.
