Santa Monica Place looks really nice as an outdoor mall, but the shops that they have here are really expensive. They have Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, etc. I would rather shop at 3rd Street Promenade, which has more affordable stores like Forever 21, H&M, etc. The one store that Santa Monica Place has that I like is Love Culture. Overall, I really like how the mall looks, but I don't think the shops here are affordable for a student. It's unfortunate because a lot of students from surrounding schools, such as UCLA, go here very often. This is a good place to take pictures, but that's pretty much it.

The shopaholic in me is happy. Plenty of places to shop, dine, and have fun. Lots of late night happy hour spots and gorgeous views. What more could a girl ask for?
Parking is expensive so I park at the 3rd St. Promenade lots and walk over. However there's a lot of check out and as far as "malls" go this one is lovely and highly recommended. It makes my time in LA worthwhile.
Skip the food court. Just don't go in. There are so many dining options in and around this place and a nice patio with a great view. Grab some coffee and sit out there or find a place to dine that's actually decent.
A friend and I have visited several times just to sit on the patio or walk around. I used to come here before it was transformed. I like the new look better.

Many, many different food options ranging from fast casual to fine dining. Sonoma Wine Garden offers a private patio dining, but hey, just skip that and order a piccolo bottle or is it a quarter bottle from the mediterranean place in the food court. You can enjoy that in the "al fresco" type eating area, along with heat lamp personal booths! Acutally, I'd just bring a bottle of wine myself since they serve wine at the food court!

The newly renovated Santa Monica Mall has once again stolen the shopping attention from The Grove. This mall has done a full 360 and become a high class establishment that leads right into the famous 3rd Street Promenade. Between the two, there is no shop not present and type of food or drink nonexistent. With plentiful parking lots and a walkable beach (when you need to get away from shopping central), Santa Monica has once again become my number 1 LA shopping location.

If you must go to a mall, make it this one. This indoor/outdoor shopping emporium has something for everyone and along with all the big chains, there are some great only-in-LA shops as well, like Kitson.
