Went up 5 sets of stairs! woot woot! It's a great workout indeed :) Make sure to stretch before, during and after so you won't hurt your self.
There area 2 stairs near each other, wooden and concrete. I think the concrete one was a better workout because it seemed longer to go up. Wooden one is popular so it gets crowded after 10am.
Best time to do it is before 9am (less people, cooler air, not as sunny).

If you want a rock hard booty, this is where to get em! No gym fees either! A very popular workout spot, you'll have to maneuver around people like an obstacle course, but after a few sets, you'll find yourself getting passed up. There are two sets of stairs: the concrete one right at the intersection of 4th and another one about 100 yards to the right. Do a loop for a more challenging workout.Recommended for:

Want to feel like Rocky but get your ass kicked? The Santa Monica Stairs are notorious for making grown men and sorority girls cry. It can get pretty crowded there so try making it between 5-6am.

There's something special about these stairs -- maybe it's the ocean air. Plus, the people hiking them are in such great shape you'll be motivated to keep up so as not to cause a traffic jam.
