Thursday was micks excursion...he chose the caribbean cruise we met the coach at the lobby at 7:00 on the dot... our guide was called Roberto... he talked to us about the agriculture eg sugar cane mangos grown in the punta cana area... the island of Saona that we visited that day and looked after us very well throughout the day. We drove to a port on the south side of the island where we met our big speed boat ... we boarded and made ourselves comfortable... the crew Kept us supplied with... beer, cola, Brugal rum and coke, fruit punch sprite etc...an open bar... 1st we were taken out to a sandbar in the middle of the ocean where we could get out walk around and hunt for star fish... we saw a few but we decided to leave them in the water unlike some people who were taking them out to have photos taken with them.... we then re boarded the boat to be taken to a favourite snorkelling place one of the crew took some bread for the fishes...there were many colourful fish that swam all around us i put my hand out to touch them and one nibbled my finger but it didnt hurt.... we then re boarded the boat again and made our way to Saona island... the beach was beautiful with hammocks and loungers... white sand and calm turquoise sea... the caribbean sea... in punta cana beach of our hotel that was the atlantic sea many more waves... this was a real contrast. We loafed on the beach... swam and had a lovely lobster meal...those that did not like lobster they had pork. We then loafed and swam some more with the open bar still open.Mitch bit by a fly:(On the way back we travelled on a catamarang we danced and loafed some more and sunbathed on the netting. One of the other holiday makers with us had a bit too much to drink and jumped off the catamarang... and in the coach on the way back to the hotels was continually shouting....eh eh roberto and trying to ask random questions in spanish (at least he was trying). A lovely relaxing trip... bit tame but lovely.
