Shiraoi Ainu Village - also known as "Porotokotan", the design of the museum as an outdoor museum is divided into modern and village zone. Inside a house, explanations of Ainu history and culture are given and traditional dances are performed at all times of visitors. Sapporo got 3 beer factories , there are Sapporo, Kirin and Chitose.Recommended for:

The urban center of Hokkaido and a transit point for most people visiting the region. Sapporo is known for its excellent food and the famous snow festival. A pleasant city with relatively wide boulevards and friendly people.Recommended for:

With excellent beer and outstanding ramen and seafood (crab and salmon especially, though it'll hurt your wallet), Sapporo is synonymous in the mind of many Japanese with eating, but it's also an attractive city of parks with an outstanding Winter Festival where the northern character of the city really shines. Best of all, unlike much of Hokkaido, it's directly accessible on the JR system, by overnight train from Tokyo.Recommended for:

This is my favorite city in Japan so far. It's not as crazy busy as Tokyo and has similar shopping and entertainment. It's urban, lively and fun. The city is known for its Snow Festival in February. I really want to come back and experience it.
Sapporo is most known for its beer and awesome anual snow festival. When I went for the ice festival I carved a mug out of ice and drank Pepsi from it, ate endless bowls of delectable ramen, and sat spas surrounded by snow. Enjoy the scenery on the overnight train from Tokyo, enjoy the festival for a few days, and then take a bus up north and visit some onsen ;)

Sapporo is the largest urban city in Hokkaido. Although it is still in no way close to having the hustle and bustle of Tokyo or Osaka, Sapporo has charm and its own characters. The miso ramen here is fantastic, the milk products are must tries, and in Hokkaido, Sapporo IS the shopping mecca of the land!
For something different, why not visit Sapporo? It the best of both worlds - gorgeous natural scenery just out of town, a buzzing nightlife and the best Ramen in all of Japan! Definitely check out the Sapporo Beer Museum also - even if you aren't a huge beer drinker, the all you can eat restaurant is soooo good!
