    Marin Headlands

    5
    35 reviews

Lots of people go to the car park at the end of Golden Gate bridge for photo opportunities but I think the view from Marin Headlands is much more unique. It also makes a great scenic drive. Lots of viewpoints to stop at (If you can't find parking, drive on...there are lots more view points as you go up the ...

    Sausalito CA

    4.5
    29 reviews

Sausalito is a great town nestled on the rugged hills just on the north side of teh Golden Gate bridge, Bay side. It is very upscale and expensive to live here. But most people come here as tourists, to enjoy the little shops downtown, sort of a Carmel by the Sea, or Sausalito on the Bay. There are what you ...

    Vista Point

    4.5
    20 reviews

this is the classic viewpoint for the GG Bridge. Go south on Highway 101, take the last exit before the bridge (after you go through the tunnel). go up the hill to the left. Park in the 2nd lot on the left and walk out the bluff. It will be windy and cold. But the view is amazing.

    Bay Area Discovery Museum

    4
    11 reviews

If you're in San Francisco and have a car, it's super easy to just head over the Golden Gate Bridge and right on the other side of it is this amazing little "compound" of discovery for kids. Just the location itself is STUNNING -- against a backdrop of trees, you look out across the bay and you have a beautiful ...

    Rodeo Beach

    4.5
    7 reviews

Rodeo Beach is located within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and a pleasant Marin drive to get out here. It's a great place to bring Fido, hang out with the family (or alone), hike around, or just drink in another slice of paradise. And isn't it marvelous that in the Bay Area you can be out in the middle ...

    Golden Gate Bridge Vista Overlook

    4.5
    7 reviews

So this place is not on the headlands like the other GG Vista Point. This is the location on the North East not North West end of the bridge. It is only accessible from while traveling north from San Francisco. Follow US Highway 101 north across the Golden Gate Bridge. Take the first exit called "Vista Point" and turn right ...

This is a really cool attraction where you can see the entire Bay area on a model (like a map) that you can walk around. Definitely a unique thing to do.

    Kirby Cove

    4 reviews

I came to Kirby Cove just during the day to attend my stepdaughter's wedding. It was a great venue including the views and the relative privacy. The Day Rangers can rightly be protective of this little gem and are pretty vigilant.

    Bunker Road Tunnel

    5
    4 reviews

This tunnel runs in one direction at a time, so pay attention. It is pretty long (as in one or two minutes inside), but it beats the alternative of going all the way back in either direction.

    Presidio Yacht Club

    4.5
    4 reviews

Don't think 'yacht club'; rather, imagine what a salty dog watering hole must have looked like back in the day when Sausalito was home to Jack Kerouac or Jack London. On weekends, this boat club opens its small bar to landlubbers and outsiders. They even serve food (the burgers aren't half bad). It's in front of the Cavallo Point Lodge ...

    Wellington's Wine Bar

The guys that work here are always friendly. They have a great selection of wine and I prefer coming here instead of the crab house next door. More chill vibe and I was glad it was walking distance to work.

    Waldo/Rainbow Tunnel

    4.5
    3 reviews

I love this tunnel, and always try to honk one time as I am passing through for good luck. When driving into the city from Marin, be sure to have your camera ready for a great shot of the Golden Gate and San Francisco just after you pop out.

Walking through the yacht harbor in Sausalito is a lot of fun. Many people live on these as houseboats, and there is a whole community.

    Hendrik Point

    5
    2 reviews

Sometimes there seems to be an unlimited number of ways and angles to view the Golden Gate Bridge. In my humble opinion, the panorama from Hendrik Point is the Best of the Best. You'll probably recognize the angle and to me, this is the best "Money Shot" that I know. If you're lucky, you'll witness the fog pouring in and ...

I've not been here yet but it's definitely on my to go list (when my kids are older) For older kids, this center educates about wildlife and the environment. You can also combine your trip here with a walk in the beautiful marin headlands. It should be really beautiful in spring.

Fort Cronkhite was Established in 1937 on 800 acres of land that is right next to Rodeo Beach. The Marine Mammal Center (and their nice new facility) is also located here. So are lots of WWII vintage military base-related buildings. This facility was named for Maj. Gen. Adelbert Cronkhite, who commanded the 80th Division during World War I. No period ...

One of the only sandy beaches in Sausalito - great spot to let the kids run around and play in the sand. You can also rent a kayak or a stand up paddle board at Seatrek, which is right on the beach.
