Amazing gourmet Italian; just as good as its NYC location. Feeling is a bit over the top glam, but suppose it needs to be to blend in with the feel of Miami and the Fontainbleau specifically. You get what you pay for here - quality is not cheap, but everything is excellent. Good for a date or group of friends out for a night on the town (or in the monstrosity that is the Fontainbleau).

Chef Nina has been cooking up wonders there from day one. I had a charcuterie plate that was simply put, WOW! I once had the best bottle of La Castellana 1999 at Scarpetta. So much so, that I went home and purchased a case. Now that Chef Nina has been a finalist in Top Chef, the place gets packed with people who love her and want to eat the food that earned her second place in the whole competition.

Scott Conant, the owner and chef, is one of my dear friends. If you are a fan of Italian flavor, you can only hope one day to be able to steal, replicate or be wealthy enough to bribe someone to give you his creamy polenta recipe. Also, he is the only person I know that can charge $20 for plain spaghetti & tomato sauce and make it totally worth it. There is a fantastic wine selection as well. My favorite dish is the 21-day-aged ribeye of beef with chanterelle mushrooms, peanut potatoes and smoked bone marrow.

The Miami branch of Scott Conant's Scarpetta (New York). Located in the Fontainebleau resort in Miami Beach, it has all the good food of the original, but has a view of the beach.
