Beautiful palace although only partially finished. The tour was dull compared to other tours of Ludwig's castles. Although worth the view a and the ability to say you've been there. I sadly visited here during the winter missing the the shuttle up the hill. The walk is long and steep, not enjoyable hungover or in a rainy/snowy day. Also by not being able to take the shuttle you miss some of the best views of the castle. I will most definitely make a second visit here in time during the late spring and will likely make a full day if the trip enjoying the hiking available in the area.

The famous fairytale castle. The valley side of the facade is currently under reparation and behind a cover so that side is not very photogenic at the monent. No photos or videos are allowed inside the castle. Entry into the castle is only possibly if you take a tour (12 €). Prepare time for a climb to the castle. The tour won't wait. The walk took about 25 minutes. Alternative to walking is to take a bus or horses pulling a carriage. Busses don't drive on bad weather.
