Schooners is a great casual eatery inside the Monterey Plaza hotel, with indoor and outdoor seating. The food was great -- we had the Happy Prawns, the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp and the swordfish special of the day. All the food was great, the views from inside or outside are really nice and we had great service in general from both the manager of the restaurant as well as our server. If you're not a drinker, their strawberry limeade mocktail was also delicious!

Schooners, the Resort restaurant and local favorite, was a superior seafood dining experience. You can sit in the main dining area with glass separating you from the sprawling ocean. I recommend sitting as close to the water as possible, the view was mesmerizing. You can also sit outdoors, and even with the heat lamps, I recommend bringing a sweater because Monterey was surprisingly chilly, even in June.
Excellent wine and cocktail menu. Fire roasted artichoke to start with In Hot Water (a platter crab fondue which was excellent) was a fantastic start. The swordfish was topped with an olive tapenade and I was a fan of this savory, dense dish.
The lemon tart for dessert was the perfect finish.
