Valvona & Crolla is described as a specialty food and wine shop. There are two, one on Elm Road and one on Multrees Walk, both in New Town. The Elm location is the original. The Multrees location opened in late 2004. The Elm location has a small restaurant at the back which is very hard to get into and they ...

I really liked the vibe of this place. Have some great ale on the tab, and food here is fantastic. We had Speyside beef, and it was one of the best meals I've had in Scotland!

    The Red Lion Inn

    Low Causeway, Dunfermline, United Kingdom
    1 review

Cute local pub brimming with people. I suspect it was partially due to the filming of Outlander in the local village, but it also had tasty food. I particularly recommend the smoked sausage with curry sauce!

    The Grain Store

30 Victoria Street, Edinburgh EH1 2 United Kingdom

This Old Town restaurant is on the very attractive Victoria Street. Calling its cuisine Scottish basically means it emphasizes local ingredients which result in favourful dishes. The wine list is fairly short but very reasonably priced. The name is because it is located in a former grain storage building and thus has interesting vaults within.

    Fishers Bistro

1 The Shore, Edinburgh EH6 6 United Kingdom
    2 reviews

Went to the city location, but same place. Friends that it was only a fish and chips place and were more than surprised to see it was a bit "fancy" but in a good way. Their fish and chips was excellent and my scallops and gnocchi was exceptional. Had an amazing Australian Chardonnay as well which made the meal even ...

103 George Street, Edinburgh, Lothian EH2 3ES, United Kingdom
    1 review

We had lunch in this former bank building now with white and hot pink walls and stylish minimalist decor amongst the pillars and coffered ceiling. Food was classic Italian and brought back happy memories of our Italian vacation. They have jazz events and appear to attract younger professionals, not surprising given the location amongst high end clothing stores and businesses. ...

    Jamie's Italian

54 George Street, Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh EH2 2LR, United Kingdom
    2 reviews

I've had really mixed experiences of Jamie's. It's nice, but no nicer than any other Italian chain, but its prices are pretty steep in comparison. In my experience it is safe to order the simple dishes off the menu as they are less likely to mess them up, I've been on a few occasions when my foods been undercooked or ...

    The Sheep Heid Inn

    43-45 The Causeway, Edinburgh EH15 3QA, Scotland
    5 reviews

This is known to be the oldest bar in Scotland. Like many of the bars in Edinburgh city, it was also renovated and turned into a gastropub. It's lovely inside, a mix of the old with the new. There's lots of variety of beers and cider on tap, and nice small selection of bar foods. It may seem small from ...

41 Frederick Street, Edinburgh, United Kingdom
    4 reviews

Tea room with a wide variety of tea and baked goods. Didn't have the best of service here and my scone was a bit too heavy for my liking but I'd definitely come back to try some of their pastries and sample more tea.

    Dubh Prais

123b High Street, Edinburgh EH1 1 United Kingdom

If you think you would like to try haggis, my first recommendation would be to try it at Dubh Prais where it is served as an appetizer with a creamy whisky sauce. We have it every time we visit. Dubh Prais is located midway down the Royal Mile. If you aren't looking for it, you might miss it. A sign ...

    Anstruther Fish Bar

42-44 Shore St, Anstruther, United Kingdom
    3 reviews

The queue was out the door and we had to wait twenty minutes to be served, that was just for a take away! We had been warned that this was a popular chippy, and that there was a good reason. Once we reached the counter the food was served extra quick and savoured in a spot by the harbour. The ...

Three thin ladies was my first meal out of France in forever and let me tell was amazing. The menu features fresh, organic, healthy options (even gluten free bread!). It's a cute cozy place with huge coffees and super friendly staff. Centrally located this place also serves brunch all day at decent prices. Couldn't have been any happier during ...

    The Outsider Restaurant

15 George IV Bridge, Edinburgh, United Kingdom
    2 reviews

A restaurant right in the old town. The ambiance is totally lovely and super romantic, with dim lights on the wall and candles on the table. There is a loft area and several tables along the windows have great view of the Edinburgh Castle. I ordered whole sea bream and it was outstanding. The skin was crispy and the meat ...
