Scuba Club Cozumel is an old school hotel just outside of downtown San Miguel. It’s perfect if you’re looking to dive every day (they’ve got great packages, a dock on-site, and drying racks/lockers for your gear) and don’t need more than a clean basic room (a good bed, a spic-n-span bathroom, and a balcony/porch—no cable TV or upgrades here). There’s a small pool and sandy area on the water too. Meals are typically included and are served in a small dining room with a bunch of plastic tables and chairs. This is the sort of place I seek out when I just want to dive and chill out; if you're looking for a vacation getaway—beaches, palm trees, fine dining and drinks—head elsewhere.

Scuba Club Cozumel won’t win any awards for style, but I still really like this place. It’s an old-school dive resort that’s been around forever – I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s one of the longest-operating hotels on the island. It’s got everything a serious diver needs: ocean access, dive shop, gear storage, quality boats, experienced captains, and clean no-frills rooms. There’s a medium-sized pool for cooling off, and a restaurant serving hearty meals and cold drinks, perfect for filling up after a day of diving. Service is friendly and down-to-earth. I’m sure back in the day, Scuba Club Cozumel occupied a quiet patch of seashore south of town. Now it’s right on the busy coastal road between town and the cruise ship ports – not ideal if you want to walk from the hotel to the plaza, get a meal, do some shopping. Then again, if you’re staying here, you’re probably not interested in any of that…it just takes time away from diving!

Great place if you are in Cozumel for scuba diving. The rooms are basic, but comfortable. The amenities are built for divers. The food was decent, especially after a long morning of diving. Outside lockers are provided to store your dive gear and let it dry out (you need to bring your own locks). If you are going out on the dive boats, ask for Geyser... he is the best DM!
