Sea Point is a sunny spot near the center of Cape Town, where everyone's windows face the ocean, and everyone's patios face the mountain. This place is so hot, the sun even stays out later, it really does!
Pretty much anywhere you'd want to stay would be within a very easy distance from Sea Point. It's between "town" (Central Business District/Long Street) and Camps Bay, a beach you have to go to if visiting Cape Town, so you'll pass Sea Point a few times.
And here is how to best experience it if you only have a few hours: definitely stop on Glengariff Road which is the edge the Sea Point promenade. Walk away from the city for a beautiful, dare say incredible, sunset stroll. As the light flickers away, runners, dog walkers, young and old, all spend their last moments of the day in harmony, together. Then, walk up to the Main Road in Sea Point and have your pick of any type of restaurant you'd like.
Just be cautious, as with any area in most of South Africa, if there are not other people around, that is your sign to leave. Don't be a target, but don't be afraid to experience the night time culture as well.
