I don't understand how anyone could write anything negative anout this hotel! We have loved it. The room is large, airy and immaculate. Looks, smells, feels clean. it has huge windows that open to reveal the street below and a comfy roof terrace to watch the world go by. The biggest bonus for me is the lack of soft furnishings: no curtains or carpet to get gross and harbour dirt and dust. The room has a wardrobe, chairs, air con, wifi and a really comfy bed. There's a cool bar across the street that has live music so you can sit on the terrace and listen or go down and see what's going on. Any street noise is not so bad that if you shut your windows and shutters you can't hear it. In fact I was surprised by how quiet the hotel was given its amazing location - 2 blocks from the beach and a short walk from downtown. A lovely area to stay in. We don't want to leave!Recommended for:

The delightful, family-friendly Sea Shore Motel is cozy and clean, within walking distance of the beach in Santa Monica. It could just as easily be found along the famous Route 66, with its pink exterior, teal scrolled-iron railings, dwarf palm trees, and vintage sign. So close to the beach, I was surprised to find such a friendly staff and free parking, with rooms that were comfortable and affordable. Instead of carpeting, all rooms have terra cotta tile floors. So no need to worry about all the sand you bring back from the beach in your suit or where to keep your surfboard. Mini-fridges are in every room, while microwaves, coffee pots, and toaster ovens are available to borrow from the main office upon request. The lobby also sports a multi-language book exchange. And since there’s no breakfast included, be sure to head next door to Amelia’s Café for a tasty cappuccino and croissant, and then order a panini sandwich to go for that picnic lunch on the beach!Recommended for:

Sometimes all you need for a simple getaway is a basic hotel room, and the ones here are clean, comfortable and centrally located along Main Street. There are a lot of perks, too, like free parking and WiFi. Rooms come with small refrigerators, but there are also extra appliances in the lobby that can be borrowed during your stay, including microwaves and toasters. If you reserve one of the four suites, which include a full kitchen, you can also pick up a kettle and/or cookware sets for maximum self-efficiency. Free bags of ice are stored in a freezer in the lobby.
There’s communal sundeck that’s nice for relaxing at the end of the day. Right next door, Amelia’s has good coffee. And the hip Basement Tavern bar, inside the Victorian, is just across the street. Students can inquire about the smaller standard room.
