What is it with waterfronts that infinitely make a city more attractive? I don't quite know the answer, but I do know walking along the Seattle Waterfront is a highlight in exploring this great city!

NIce for a stroll, you will find Ivars and Elliotts here as well as the Aquarium and the big wheel. There is a little "park" just south of the Aquarium that is off the busy side walk and is a nice place to enjoy an ice cream and the view. The arcade is as you'd expect adds a fun atmosphere. The harbor cruises leave from here. You can burn off the calories climbing back up to Pike street market when done.

The Seattle Waterfront shows a great view of the Pacific Ocean but also has a bit of an industrial side with the Port of Seattle in direct sight. However, looking back in the city you see how it is all risen up and understand the history after the fire burned the city down.

Beautiful place to see the sun set. I enjoyed the waterfront for the view but not much going on here in terms of places to hang out. There is the aquarium and the arcade but not much else.

Take a stroll down the Seattle Waterfront where you can have a shrimp sandwich and visit the Seattle Aquarium! Take a spin on the new Ferris Wheel or just watch the Ducks go by!

You may see some Cruise Ships and also the wonderful Elliott Bay. Walk uphill a bit to the famed Pike Place Market and grab a dozen flowers or so for your date. When you're there don't forget to go to the Chocolate Factory. Chocolate and Flowers... yes, that's a good way to kiss and make up! ;)

A ride on the new ferris wheel will set you back $15 and most of the games in the arcade are 50 cents. I think I'd rather spend $15 on silly arcade games than go on the ferris wheel again. The ride lasts maybe 10-15 minutes tops. The cabins are air conditioned and pretty solid, so no swinging possible. There are a ton of kitschy eateries, but some nicer ones as well. Check out Elliot's Oyster House's Happy Hour for 75 cent oysters from 3 to 4. The price increases every hour. Also, drop into the curiosity shop to gawk at shrunken heads!

What's not to love about a waterfront? You can go to Pike's Place Market, buy a simple lunch, and go sit on stools that overlook the waterfront, or better yet, go out TO the waterfront and eat there!

I'd give the waterfront 3.5 stars. It's just slightly off the beaten path away from the main activity from the city. It's really nice during the summer and crappy during the winter.

Description

It may be a little hokey, touristy, and geared towards the family-traveler, but that doesn't make the Seattle Waterfront any less appealing for its spectacular views and the summer concerts to which its piers play host. If you're looking for a nice green space to picnic, Myrtle Edwards Park has you covered; if you want some family-friendly fun, look no further than the Seattle Aquarium; take a ... read more
ride along the waterfront's length on an old-timey street car. You may not see many locals, but the Seattle Waterfront is distinctly "Seattle"-- that's more than good enough for me!
