"In contrast to the concept driven cultural practice that is dominating the Miami art scene my approach to painting is firmly rooted in the understanding that the primary success and value of a work of art is determined by whether the direct sensory perception of the work triggers a “mega-whallop” of satisfying intuitive pleasure in the viewer. Nothing more is asked, nothing less is expected.
I do not make this assertion lightly. I am only too painfully aware of the difficulty of achieving this goal but this is the core challenge I embraced when I chose to dedicate my life to the pursuit of beauty and visual integrity through painting."

Depending on what day you are going to be in Miami, the second Saturday of every month boasts free admissions to some of Miami's best museums for families from 1-4 p.m. You can amble from one musuem to the next listening to live music, storytelling, dancing, games, etc. A lot of fun and a great learning experience as well!
Also, if you are going to be in town on a Sunday, Biscayne National Park holds a Family Fun Fest on the second Sunday of every month from January to May. It is free of charge and tries to teach kids about nature while doing fun, hands on activities.Recommended for:Family Travelers

On the second Saturday, there is no place I would rather be then the art walk in the Wynwood District.
Getting there, one will notice parking can be a pain. I recommend staying off the main streets to avoid the people obstacle course and park south of 23rd street and east of NW 2nd Ave around 22nd and NW 1st.
With the parking situated, it is time to roam the galleries. Most of the galleries are between 23rd street and 27th street, where there are dozens of galleries. Some of my favorite spots are the Wynwood Walls, an art lover's wonderland, and Miguel Paredes Gallery.
Another lovely benefit of doing the walk is the free booze. Many galleries have free cocktail and beer to enhance the art goer's experience. After getting boozed up and finished drunkercising around the Wynwood, I recommend munching down on some grub at one of the dozens of gourmet food trucks. There is a food truck for everyone ranging from the alcoholic to the ice creamaholic to the foodaholic.
The art walk rocks with all its galleries and interesting people; there is no place like it.
