There are many varieties of beaches around the island of Kauai to explore. It is recommended, because of the strong undertows of this island, that you only swim in the lifeguarded areas.

Gorgeous, long beach, down a 5 - 10 minute hike. Trail can be slippery when wet, but is a fairly easy trek down to the beach. There's surf at three different beaches, along this 2 mile stretch of sand. Great for exploring the tide pools, shell searching and breath-taking beauty.Recommended for:

Kauapea Beach is located about half a mile west of the town of Kilauea on an unmarked dirt road off Kuhio Highway. It is approximately 3000 feet long and 75 feet wide, and it sits between Kalihiwai Bay and Kilauea Point. It is also known as "Secret Beach" and it is sometimes used by nude sunbathers (those who want to try it should note that public nudity is not legal in Hawaii). Water conditions are dangerous when the surf is high.
DIRECTIONS: From Highway 56, turn right onto Kalihiwai Road. Turn right again at the first dirt road, and drive to the end of the road, where you find a trail on which you can hike to the beach.

Known since kid days as "Kauapea", a gorgeous white sand blue ocean beach, perfect to walk ,swim, relax during the calm winter months...EXTREMELY dangerous and to be avoided in the winter high surf months! Trail is ok yet gets muddy and slippery....where we begin many of our days with soft sand runs, coastline swims, dolphin visiting, humpback viewing...ALWAYS be aware and cautious here!!!Recommended for:

Worth making a trip to this secluded beach just north of Kilauea. The short walk is rewarded with a long mostly deserted white sand beach. The water can be rough here especially in the winter so this is more of beach to stay on the sand then play in the surf (that's why its 4stars instead of 5)

This is a beach that you need to kayak to from the Waimea River. We did a guided tour with Dukes Adventure and the guide that we had was a lot of fun! You do have to hike from the Waimea River. It might be a good 30 minute hike, but the hike to me was easy compared to the other hikes we did on the island.
You can go in the water and go underneath the fall but be careful cause rocks might fall. Also bring mosquito repellent cause I got bitten over 15 times everywhere and it is very itchy!! Great place to visit though!!
