Singapores'playground with theme parks, hotels and beaches sounded a bit artificial, however is still a nice escape to the buzzling city!

An artificial island with a casino, man-made beaches, and heaps of heaps of tourist-centered entertainments, Sentosa is a bit of a tourist trap, but is worth visiting for the Disneylandish aspect and, much moreso, for the cable-car ride available here, which offers an excellent view out over the city center and Singapore's massive container port terminals. I wouldn't consider Sentosa a must-do, but if you have the time, it's worth a visit.

Sentosa is like its own little world and in some ways it reminds me of Disneyland. They're in their own little bubble of touristy attractions, but unlike Disney (which I find rather boring), they have a lot of fun attractions - mostly involving animals. You can check out tons of insects and birds at the Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom, watch a show at the Dolphin Lagoon, and explore various sea creatures in the Underwater World. There are many interactive areas that are fun to play in and it's a great place for kids and adults alike. Some of it is rather cheesy, but you certainly don't have to go to those attractions!

I did not think I was going to like Sentosa. It's touristy, the biggest tourist trap in Singapore. However, it's very easy to have a great time without paying much. You can skip the expensive restaurants, Universal Studios and all the indoor daredevil crazydeal things and just stroll around. Walk along the boardwalk from VivoCity to get in for just S$1, then take the monorail out (all transportation on the island is free, even to leave). It can get pretty hot during the day which is a problem because mostly everything is outside. We didn't stay until the sun set, though I can imagine the fountains and architecture make for lovely nighttime strolls.

I came here over one weekend and spent almost the entire day here wandering around. And it's easily accessible starting at the Harbourfront MRT Station.
Sentosa is Singapore's playground and this small island has something for just about everyone. There's an excellent aquarium, dolphin lagoon, butterfly park, musical fountain and many other attractions. Or you can just hang out at the beach and watch the cargo ships come go by.
