Recently renovated, the Seoul Plaza Hotel is a fantastic luxury boutique hotel situated right in the middle of the city. For the price of a chain hotel, you get amazing service, a really swanky interior, and free use of the 16th floor gym and a breakfast buffet. Best story: the hotel sent my friend a large, delicious birthday cake complete with candles... and it wasn't even his birthday! (they mistook 8/3/19xx for 3/8/19xx)

Right outside exit 6 of City Hall Station, walking into the lobby of the Seoul Plaza hotel felt a bit like stepping into a space pod. That's a thing, right? A space pod? Well, it should be, because that's what the lobby of Seoul Plaza Hotel feels like.
With so many luxury options available in the City Hall/Myeongdong area, it's hard to differentiate what makes one hotel stand above any other, when they all offer opulence, good location, and great service. What pushed the Plaza over the top in my mind where the small touches of unique decor and the overall feeling of care that went into the design of the hotel, in everything from the purple orbs hovering above reception, to the excellent futuristic/mod (interesting combo!) throw pillows in each room.
In comparison to the other upscale hotels in the neighborhood, the standard double room at the Plaza is a bit on the small side, but unless you're planning on practicing your gymnastic floor routine in your room, I think that swapping a bit of space for the gorgeous decor is a fair trade. If you need a bit more room both the Premier and Executive Suites offer enough space to comfortably spread out, or to entertain a guest or two. The executive suite even has a working, open-flame, gas fireplace, so filling that 2am need for s'mores is no problem.
The hotel has four restaurants on site- Buffet, Italian, Chinese and Japanese, as well as a Fitness Room located in a building just behind the hotel.
The Plaza is a breath of fresh air among hotels of it's class. Definitely my top choice for central Seoul!

Just outside of Exit 6 of the City Hall subway stop, the Seoul Plaza Hall sits directly across from City Hall and welcomes you with a covered, tree-lined entrance, offering a calm feel compared to the busy surrounding area. The hotel's modern design includes a lounge with spaceship-like decor, as well as guest rooms whose pink and red accents paired with round, natural wood furnishings give a 'mod' feel. (In the Executive Suites, the color accents are yellow.) The guest rooms are smaller than hotels in the same area and price range, but the chic black carpets, dark wood decor and crisp white linens made me want to stay in and lounge all weekend. Plus, the suites have working gas fireplaces! -- Quite a rarity in Seoul. The gym is across the street, but free for all guests. As for restaurants, on the second floor, there's an impressive-looking buffet and an Italian restaurant, and on the third floor there's a higher end Chinese restaurant. The location is ideal and the staff is more than accommodating.

Plaza Hotel in Seoul is right in the middle of downtown, in front of city hall. There are many walking night markets and shops all around that area. Its very pleasant to walk around Seoul at night and for its locatio, its the best area to be in. Hotel is a 4 star hotel but the price wasn't that high. I only stayed one night in Seoul and I chose this hotel. First time I stayed in Seoul, I was in YMCA hotel and this was a big step up for a good price. I would highly recommend it.

The hotel rooms are clean and nice! The rooms have an urban twist to them! There are restaurants at this hotel 7 restaurants and of course room service as well. I stayed in a corner room which is great because you can see out from both side of the window. Across the street of the hotel is a cultural park and there are department stores surrounding this hotel. There is a swimming pool and a fitness center. I would stay here again. I loved the rooms and the great location!
