This is a sweet little spot to know about. It is located in a little unassuming ally in Darlinghurst, and has no signs outside or distinguishing characteristics. You will no you have gotten there when you see a school of smokers outside, and a gruff man evaluating you out of the corner of his eye. He turns out to be super friendly, and lets you into a classic brick basement whiskey bar, that would be highly rated even if it were in a whiskey drinking country like America. Great atmosphere, with great American animal busts on the wall, and bartenders all dressed as if they were hipsters from the states. The whiskey selection is also top notch, offering bourbons, scotches and other whiskeys from around the world.
The funny part about the place though, is it is still more of a trendy spot, than one to find whiskey aficionados. Most of the clientele are tastefully dressed women drinking wine, and hip guys sipping beer. Oh well.

Finding an American-style bar behind a sketchy alley in Darlinghurst was unexpected, but welcomed. The interior looks like someone's basement, with animal heads and vintage beer trays nailed to every surface. Peanut shells crunch beneath your feet when you walk towards the bar. The cocktails are from another era and served by bartenders whose facial hair might cause you to confuse them with Dirty Harry.

I almost don't want to review this one, as I want to keep it to myself, it's that good. If you loved Twin Peaks you'll love this bar, you almost feel like you stepped back in time when you enter the unmarked door, with a eclectic mix of decor ranging from indians to moose heads, this is a bar that screams Melbourne but lives in Sydney, finally we have bars with some personality. I could sit here all night, the bar staff are friendly, fast and know their shit, the music just adds to the general atmosphere, it's broody, moody and I can't get enough.
