Honestly can't think of a better greasy burger I'd rather eat. The line at Madison square park can get insane. There's several locations throughout the city that will be quicker but the setting at the park is awesome.

If you must stand in a ridiculous line, make it this one.
That said, shake shack burgers can be enjoyed in other, less-scenic locations, all over town. There's even one at JFK.

Not only is Shake Shack a must for any visitors to NY, it serves one of the best burgers out there, maybe the best?
The buttery bun and greasy burger with delicious cheese are amazing and somehow feel less sinful than true fast food. The best burger they have is the shack stack, It's a burger with a fried portobello mushroom with some sort of cheese that oozes out of it when you take a bite.
The fries are great and all of their shakes are delicious. It is really necessary to get all three of these things to have the full experience.
Oh god, just thinking of this is making my mouth water.

You’ll know you’ve stumbled upon one of New York’s most popular burger joints when you see the line, which can stretch on for more than an hour. The original location of this popular chain started life as a hot dog stand set up during an art convention, but has since taken off on the merit of its juicy burgers, made with 100 percent all-natural Angus beef and topped with ShackSauce, a mysterious blend whose recipe is unknown but whose addictive qualities are well established. You can also top off your burger with mouth-watering options like applewood bacon, chopped cherry peppers, or a crisp-fried Portobello mushroom filled with muenster and cheddar cheese. This is a line you’ll definitely want to wait in.Recommended for:Foodies

I’m a California Girl who LOVES an In-N-Out Cheeseburger Burger and Fries. BUT now... Shake Shack is my #1. The fir sttime I came I ordered the ‘Shroom Burger- Fried Portobello mushroom filled with melted Muenster and cheddar cheese, topped with lettuce, tomato, and Shack Sauce. OMG the ‘Shroom Burger is my new favorite burger! The second time I decided to try the famous the Shake Shack Burger and Cheese Fries. The Shake Shack Burger was perfectly cooked and juicy… came with American cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, and their famous Shack Sauce. The Cheese Fries is topped with a Cheddar Cheese Sauce Soo Yummy! The line at this place can get crazy but don’t let that scare you off… it moves pretty fast.Recommended for:Budget Travelers

The burgers are so good and this park is the perfect spot to have an outdoor lunch. It is frustrating that the wait is so long but check the webcam on their website before you go, it helps!

Known as the best burger in New York City, you owe it to yourself to stand at the endless line at least once. While I don't think the burgers or fries are worth the half an hour wait on line, the experience of eating in the park overlooking the Flatiron Building, after you've 'earned' your meal is priceless. Bring your furry friend along, there's a doggy menu as well!

It's cold. It just stormed and the snow melted away from the landscape. I'm in line, shaking in my boots, for a Shack Stack, cheese fries and a concrete with the hubby and our NYC host friends. Its an experience I will never forget. It was totally worth the wait at this iconic burger joint in NYC.
The Shack Stack oozed out cheesy goodness at first bite. Foodgasmic. A fried mushroom filled with cheese was the ultimate topping. It put the basic cheeseburger out of business. Loved every bite.
Come to the Madison Square Park location. Shake Shack emerged from just a small hot dog stand at this park! A must-do NYC experience for foodies.

This fast food experience offers a change of pace and is somewhat atypical for NYC. A long line forms at lunch time for this kiosk in the park, where the food is made to order. The burgers, fruit beverages, and milkshakes are enjoyable and of good quality. Finding a table can be a challenge, but there are park benches in the area.
