While the price and the crowd can be on the higher side, the veggie portabello mushroom burger is wonderful (if not terribly healthy with the deep-fried cheesiness). Great shakes - esp. like the chocolate and black and white. I've also had the bird dog (chicken hot dog) and while it's tasty, it's too small (I find most of the food items on the smaller side here, but if you have them with a shake, you'll be satisfied).

Awesome burger, the chocolate shake was a bit darker chocolate than I'm used to - but that ended up being a positive for me. With its wild popularity, actually getting a seat inside is a challenge. I'd suggest you not even try -- get your order "to go" and snag a bench nearby for some less stressful eating.

Shake Shack is awesome and a NYC classic! You should get the Shack Stack: a traditional and mushroom burger all-in-one! This location is great too as it's right across from the park / American Museum of Natural History, which makes for a nice relaxing place to sit during the summer. If you go to the one in Madison Square Park, there are long lines, but you can skip the lines and experience the taste by going to any of the others as well (though there's something to be said about the experience of standing in line). Anyways, their Shack Sauce is awesome and their burgers are a must-have for meat-eaters visiting NYC!Recommended for:History Buffs
