    The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai Pudong

    The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai Pudong

    Class:
    8 reviews
Excellent! - 89% of guests recommend

This Ritz is everything that you'd expect from a Ritz. Well-appointed rooms and public spaces with good service and high quality food & beverage. The Starbucks next door is also a big plus. Less distinctively Chinese on the design than some other properties (e.g., The Peninsula) but a pleasant stay that can sometimes be downright affordable.

    Kerry Hotel Pudong

    Kerry Hotel Pudong

    4 reviews
Excellent! - 94% of guests recommend

The Kerry Hotel Pudong is unquestionably my top hotel choice for business travelers. In fact, even as a non-businessperson, I’d have a hard time turning down an invitation to move into this hotel permanently. Between the fitness facilities—some of the largest and best equipped in Shanghai and the numerous F&B outlets, it’s got everything you could ever want or need. ...

The Portman Ritz-Carlton offers the unique experience of being able to forget where you are for the entirety of your trip if you so desire. Just beyond the smudge-less glass doors and convenient cab line awaits a world easily confused with home: Starbucks, an import grocery store, an upscale burger joint, American-style bakery and practically everything else you could ever ...

JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai at Tomorrow Square

JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai at Tomorrow Square

    Class:
    7 reviews
Excellent! - 92% of guests recommend

I can't say anything bad about this hotel (hence, the 5* rating). Service was top shelf. The views are outstanding (we did have exec. level rooms, but our kids in the 40's also had nice views). The hotel is convenient to everything (and a 5 minute walk from the biggest "fakes" market in Shanghai, if you're into that kind of ...

    Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai

    Class:
    5 reviews
Excellent! - 93% of guests recommend

Don't let the seemingly constant construction outside deter you. The Four Seasons Shanghai is as peaceful a place as one will find in this bustling metropolis of 23 million people. The high ceilings and tall windows in the hotel lobby and first floor dining room lend the space an airy elegance that is at once regal and inviting. Afternoon tea ...

    The Westin Bund Center

Walking into the Westin lobby you feel like you’re walking into a lively and welcoming hotel. Guest reception is to either side, and a lobby café in front of you. The Westin boasts several different restaurants, so whatever you’re in the mood for, they’ve got you covered. Their Sunday Brunch has made a name for itself amongst the Shanghai residents ...

    Marriott City Centre

    Marriott City Centre

    4 reviews

Catering to a business crowd, the new Marriott City Center is ideally located (as the name might suggest) in the very center of the city. The pool, though not huge, invokes a nice indoor/outdoor feel and the fitness center—unlike the majority of gyms in China—is actually a pleasant place to spend time with brand new machines and floor to ceiling ...

    88 Xintiandi Executive Residence

    88 Xintiandi Executive Residence

    4 reviews
Excellent! - 92% of guests recommend

This intimate boutique hotel strikes all the right chords of East meets West. Clean lines and modern furnishings are offset by dark wood accent pieces including low-slung chairs and antique lacquered screens that reference the hotel’s Oriental setting. The sheer curtains around the bed can be left open or drawn shut to completely enclose the bed and add an interesting, ...

    Hyatt on the Bund

    Hyatt on the Bund

    Class:

Excellent! - 92% of guests recommend

An ideal spot to stay at if you want to be at the center of it all. Within walking distance is The Bund and Nanjing Road, both renowned in their own right. The hotel is gorgeous in of itself; they really took the time to make it appealing to visitors. At the very top floor of the hotel lies Vue ...

    URBN Hotel

    Class:
    5 reviews
Excellent! - 86% of guests recommend

A very nice hotel inside a courtyard on central Jiaozhou Road, within walking distance of Jing'an Temple and line 2 and 7 on the metro. The rooms are comfortable, service is good and the little extra things make this a very good hotel in central Shanghai (i.e. the backwall of the reception which is made from old suitcases). The only ...

    Grand Hyatt Shanghai

    Grand Hyatt Shanghai

    Class:
    20 reviews
Excellent! - 94% of guests recommend

This hotel was the first hotel in a megastructure (has now been passed by the Finance Tower) and certainly has great views. Rooms, breakfast, service and amenities are all five star, but the flow of people passing through the lobby to reach Cloud 9 bar on the 87th floor is a drawback, as is the immediate surroundings at ground level.

Stunning, beautifully restored building right on the Bund. Effortlessly classy hotel with staff that is so helpful and polite you’d never guess you’re in China. There is a good sized high end shopping arcade in the hotel that only adds to the glamour of the Peninsula. Afternoon tea is offered in the main lobby with vaulted ceilings and muted colors ...

    The Langham Yangtze Boutique

    The Langham Yangtze Boutique

    Class:

Excellent! - 91% of guests recommend

Just a block or two away from People's Square and a 20 minute walk from the bund this beautifully restored building is a lovely choice for a long weekend in the city. The heavily Art Deco themed hotel was reminiscent of what Shanghai might have been like in it's heyday in the 20's and 30's. Lots of rich reds and ...

No matter where you are in the world, The Waldorf Astoria name is synonymous with elegance. Located on the western edge of the Former French Concession, The Longmont is a nice option for business travelers who don't like staying right downtown. But if you're looking to wander around the streets of Shanghai as a tourist this is probably not your best option as it is quite far from Shanghai's tourist staples. The hotel in itself is ...

    The Langham Xintiandi, Shanghai

This luxury hotel has a great location, right across from Xintiandi and very near shopping areas like Huaihai Road. The rooms are very modern, with ample room, good bed and all the other things you expect from a five star hotel. Breakfast is also very good with a nice selection. My one gripe with this hotel is that it is ...

Hidden around the corner from busy Nanjing Xi Lu is the JIA hotel. It’s easy to miss the door, but once you’re inside you know it’s the right place. The lobby is on the 3rd floor, which is tribute to guest privacy and keeps out the wandering eyes of Nanjing Lu. The hotel is a design driven hotel, and that ...

Cool rooms designed by Super Potato. Along with the Langham, this is one of only two hotels located in Xintiandi. I prefer Andaz to the Langham. If you are more price conscious and want to remain in the XTD area, the Ascott on Huaihai road is just down the street a ways and also quite well located, although not as ...
