The restaurant gets two stars but the view and location make it a three overall.
We had our wedding reception here about a year ago. The event itself was excellent, with a great view and hard working staff members.
Our issue lies with the senior staff at Shanghai Reds. We began to plan our event with one person, signed a contract and then that person quit. No big deal, right? Then the next person to take the job of event coordinator quit soon after meeting with us to reconnect after the predecessor quit. We were then left with no one planning on our event at all and no communication from another manager. We then thought it would be a good idea to see them in person. We greeted with hostility and confusion. The head manager's name is Parvis. He fed us a lot of hot air on how he would rectify the gap in communication and make sure we would have a new person to coordinate our wedding reception. Neither of these things happened. We experienced nothing but frustration, anxiety and confusion while trying to plan our event. While the event planner was friendly, it seemed that despite all of our efforts and communication, nothing was sinking in with them and there was always confusion and inconsistency coming from their end. When we realized how disorganized and incompetent this establishment was we decided it would be wise to hire a day-of planner to help make sure that we got everything we asked for and were promised on the day of our wedding-which turned out to be an excellent choice since the event planner at the restaurant who we had been working with LEFT BEFORE ANYTHING WAS SET UP. Our planner had to coral the entire wait staff to make sure our contract and agreements were respected.
On a positive note however, our event turned out to be lovely because of the beautiful location, friendly wait staff, and our own efforts in hiring a planner and constantly nagging the management staff. The price per person was also reasonable for such a great location and the amount of food available (although their prices may have recently changed).
