The Shangri-La is classic. It's right in an area that's good to go out at night in, but it also has a huge royal themed lobby that's a place to be seen. The high backed chairs facing the garden are a particularly nice place to meet up. Zipangu (designed by Super Potato) is a Japanese restaurant on the second floor with a see-through wine and sake cellar. The pool, tennis court, and spa are nice and busy areas and on the other side of the lobby there's a maze made out of hedges. It is an extravagant feeling place, and with the penthouse priced at about $6,000 U.S. it does on occasion host real royalty. Rooms with views of The Petronas Towers are given out on availability.Recommended for:

I stayed at The Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur a few times between 2008/2009 and in 2011 because of a business trip. It's located nearby other hotels. The Swimming pool is marvelous and the customer service is excellent and friendly-they're also well trained and professional (Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur is a 5-star hotel). Located in the Golden Tri-angle, it's nearby to busy Sultan Ismail street, which is heaven for night life. There's a train (MONORAIL) nearby that can bring you from the city to KL SENTRAL (main METRO station that goes to the airport). It's also walkable to KLCC.If you don't mind spending the money, Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur is worth what you spend.

They have a very impressive concierge setting with large space and many staff at the concierge and many people walking around the place which makes you feel like you’re in a very busy hotel. To reach the hotel you have short distance to walk from the main road which is not too far. They also have a maze garden near the lemon court deli which really is a unique setting in the hotel. They have a tennis court which the patron there actually uses it. The view of the dining place is of the rainforest where there are big huge trees and the whole place is very comfortable because of the nice environment. The swimming pool also has an abandoned unmanned mini bar and an unmanned rescue station which really is a funny thing to see because why have the rescue station there at all. The gymnasium is one of the most complete gymnasiums. I’ve asked one of the staff that the most expensive room reaches around RM15,000 for one night. There were encyclopedia in that particular room.

Agree with the review that it is a strategically located hotel in Kuala Lumpur, suitable for business trips. The monorail helps a lot especially during rush hour when traffic is heaviest.Recommended for:
